Those of you with multiple accounts - "Non helm MultiCrew players now provide an additional single power distribution pip"

Now that FDEV have made their position perfectly clear, can this particular thread just die the death it deserves?

You do realise you don't have to read it, and don't have to subscribe? What an odd needlessly aggressive attitude (& post)...

I'm sorry my opinion 1) Differs from those who appear to have a habit of posting various Concern threads, and 2) apparently has been a triggering opinion.

Actually, I'm not really sorry. I've been reading various such Concern Threads on the forums for more than 2 years now. Quite often started by the same one or two Usual Suspects.

And lastly, to say someone 'doesn't have to read it' - well that's just precious. Someone posited their Concern. Other folks have the right to say "this isn't really a Concern". And I have the right to posit my opinion that this entire Concern Thread is now moot, as FDEV agrees with my opinion that they don't care either.

@Genar-Hofoen

No,

That is not how it works. The forum is there to discuss things, (which hasn't changed function since its inception by the Romans), that is something FDEV chose to implement for us players to provide feedback.

If the feedback we provide, whether it be the usual suspects or not, does not sit well with FDev or with you for that matter, does not need to concern us. So let me throw back the freesbee... Your wish regarding this thread is none of my concern neither. Maybe a lot of players will make their position perfectly clear as well, and not purchase the extra module. Threads like this shed light on the poor implementation of some modules and some people read feedback before purchasing a game. I'm sorry to say I cannot make that decision anymore, since I've a lifetime pass and I was lured in (with unkept promises that FDev made at the time). I bought EVE valkyrie, and because it sucked IMHO, asked for a refund, if it hadn't they would have made 60 USD along with a gazillion other users.

I just wonder that with the decisions done lately, that you so blatantly accept, whether the game's anticipated lifespan of 10 years will actually fly.

Now, since I have the choice to invite an extra hand on board and the choice is thank goodness not made by FDev on my behalf, some usual suspects could choose to push multicrew in a locker and throw away the key. Meaning Mobius PVE will again gain some new members.

We understand that FDev chooses to implement perks of their choosing that seem to float well with what I like to call 'console gaming'. The external 3d floating gun camera (completely out of sync with their advocated restrictive external view) is a good example of this.
I do enjoy Everspace, it's a good example of a 'console gaming' hit. That is not what ED, with its legacy is, or should be about.

So lets put it this way, if you don't share the opinion and would like to start your own tread, or give feedback that actually makes sense, please do so. Otherwise go put the kettle on!

You will agree that I have been polite as well.

Ah, but I have shared my opinion, and that is that this is a concern thread, and that I disagree that the issue raised as a concern is not worth bothering about. I also prefer the direct route, and make no apologies if my blunt way of positing my opinion triggers the faint of heart.

So here's my feedback that 'actually makes sense' : this is a non-problem, FDEV themselves say it's a non-problem, and therefore this thread is now moot.

Haha, 'faint of heart', no sir I'm not, I'm actually a pretty volatile and blunt reactionary myself...

Well, why don't we all follow you, just roll over and let FDev take our money and let them decide what game we should play. At least they won't have a hard time convincing you.

This thread may still have a value besides being moot. Angry Joe (a very powerful influencing factor relating to buy or no buy a game because of his equally blunt and unbiased opinions) might make a pass along the forum and notice this. He loves space games like ED and when a new module comes out... well lets leave that in the middle shall we...

Now... can we get this thread back on its rails, please?

Couple of things...
1) FDev have declared things as a "non-problem" before (in one way or another) which later have have proved to be one - Indeed with FDev then addressing them.
2) Even if it is a complete non-problem (according to you or FDev), what is the problem with individuals spit-balling the matter around? What harm can it do, especially if you don't bother reading it if you seemingly have a problem with the conversation?

To be frank can I suggest the best course of action - if you think the thread is moot - is to unsubscribe and move on?

Which is exactly what happens. FDEV are - and have always said - making the game THEY want to play. We're just along for the ride. Always have been. Sure, they've listened to opinion along the way and taken that into account and made some adjustments, but mostly they just plough ahead with the 'game THEY want to play'.

At least they're won't have a hard time convincing you.

Passive-aggressive insult noted. Not surprising. However, when I first spotted this thread I didn't agree with it. I subscribed just to watch what happened. Made a post in response to Truesilver a while back but that's about it.

This thread may still have a value besides being moot. Angry Joe (a very powerful influencing factor relating to buy or no buy this game) might make a pass along the forum and notice this.

Any value the thread had has gone *POFF* with FDEV actually saying they don't care about the subject.

Now... can we get this thread back on its rails, please?

Sure! This is a non-issue and is unimportant, and the thread is now moot what with FDEV saying so.

Possibly? And the problem? Can we still not discuss it?

And if FDev actually have mis-considered something - as demonstrated a number of times before in the past - which have then be raised by the community, and which FDev have then adjusted the game because of? How do we know we're not in one of those scenarios?

The concerns being voiced here - which of course are still nothing more than that, concerns - may well prove unfounded. But at the same time, when we have more information, they may well have some grounding. Given this outcome, and that the solutions to the concern(s) are seemingly fairly straight forward, I don't see why you're being so polarised about the matter...

There's no harm in investigating and discussing concerns. It's been done before and proved unfounded. It's been done before and proved founded. In the meantime stop taking on the role of "forum police" as it really just isn't necessary and worse still doesn't create a very pleasant outcome (ie: We get loads of needless arguments/bickering).

There is a 'Core' game without the fluff, there is 'Horizons' with some soon to come fluff, and there's 'Arena'. All with a different price tag. FDEV might be actively choking the sales of its latest inception. Enough critical reviews which translates in less money coming in is - as you stated it - probably the only catalyst that FDEV really considers for a change in course.

Passive-aggressive insult noted.

It was not an insult, merely a flat factual observation! Or are you getting 'faint of heart'?

Yes but there is two sides to a coin. FDEV may decide to steer the course they want... but future customers may (after viewing unbiased reviews) also choose to put their money elsewhere. FD is not the only space sim on the block...

Sure! This is a non-issue and is unimportant, and the thread is now moot what with FDEV saying so.

Right! Allez, Circulez!

Knock yourself out. Spend your money.

Is it really worth 30 quid to get an extra pip?

60 quid for two pips?

If you think it's worth it, I'm happy for you to spend your disposable income in your chosen manner.

So we're happy to pay-to-win now? Fair enough...

Engineers have been in game for quite some time, I don't see anyone complaining about that obvious "buy expansion or you won't have access to better, engineered ships".

There's absolutely nothing stopping players from joining someone's ship and giving them the pips, and additionally having 2 THINKING crewmates. Flying fighter and shooting what's important. If you want to do that all by yourself or spend 100 euro for some extra regeneration that doesn't really make a difference if you can switch pips in combat, why not?

And the credits issue is non-existant. No player market, no way to transfer credits, nothing important to buy with credits.

It's not just a extra pip though is it, there's also the discount to rebuy of 25% which is quite significant. I feel they could of at least made a attempt to ensure the crew are 'active'.

I just got second account yesterday. It is for a daughter and it will be great thing for her to switch power managament on my ship (she is at five and want to play with daddy a game), but as i wrote many times before - it is exploitable. Additional crew should not give just additional pip. An reason of presence of additional crew should result from his playing efficiency.

I am sure people will exploit it, and then it will also force me to exploit it to not be in the tail. I personally do not like exploits like rellogging, running alt accounts etc to keep in line. I am just too old for it.

I have no intention to open that can of worms again, but there certainly have been numerous discussion whether Engineers constituted p2w, you must somehow have missed them.

But if there's simple mechanics that could logically prevent this abuse, at least to some degree? Why not implement them? Why even choose to allow the exploit?

And if the answer is to instead embrace people spending CR for an ingame advantage, why not just do it "properly", be open about it, and just sell the extra pip(s) in the shop?

To me sort of feels FD are treading into dangerous territory opening up exploits like this, and quite openly saying they don't really "care" (ie: see it as a concern)?

Perhaps, I haven't visited these forums for a long time, as you can see from my post count. In any case, it's not like gaining free Credits matters - E:D has no real economy. If someone can kill me with 2 extra pips, they can also kill me without them. I don't see any scenario where that would matter.
