Newcomer / Intro Those white dots on the radar

The ones that represent debris or drifting cargo or FSD wakes.
Is there a way to turn them off?
They are a nuisance during a busy battle.

Negative. You can only adjust your radar range. If it is too busy try to reduce range, this way you not going to see all the stuff further out. I'm using this option sometimes. I believe default controls for it Page Up and Page Down.

No. But anything shooting at you will be a triangle, and anything hostile to you will be red (unless you've changed the color scheme). :)

If things get too busy you can use a button bound to target next/nearest threat but that can get distracted by the white dots of missiles or mines. Or buttons bound to target next or previous hostile that will go through the reds but won’t necessarily find the most dangerous one in time.

Thank you I will try that next time.

If you think it's that simple you either are trying to mock me or you never been in a battle and tried to lock on a target only to have the lock pick all the debris around the target.

It's exactly this problem that I am trying to avoid.
I find it annoying when I am trying to lock on a ship only to have the targetting system selecting all the garbage around the ship.

That is why you should have buttons bound to target next or previous hostile, they work just as the ones to select any contact but will only pick hostile ships.

The threat one is more useful as it will select the thing attacking you however it will also select missiles nearby which is why I have the other buttons bound.

If things get too bad you can always fly further away as the debris won’t move and will vanish over time and any ships actually fighting you will follow you away from the debris Making them easier to target.
