I would first like to apologize if I repeat anyone else's suggestions, I have just joined the forums and did not peruse the suggestions thoroughly
If you agree, disagree, or have any additional relevant material or suggestions feel free to comment (if you disagree please let me know why).
1. Petting Zoo
I believe it would be quite interesting to have more human interaction with some animals. The ways this would be seen in-game would vary from feeding the giraffes to petting goats. I think this would be provide a more authentic experience for both players and our virtual guests.
The easiest way this would be done without altering the game would be through an expansion, similar to the Arctic pack. Here are the following things that should be (in my opinion) included in a Petting Zoo Pack:
1(A) Boundaries: A special boundary would need to be included that would need to fit the standards for animals which this could affect, such as giraffes or lemurs. This may use the gate that has already been provided.
1(B) Added Animals: Alpacas, Llamas, and Sheep: This would be supplemented by an optional merchandise store of alpaca produced products! Such as alpaca hats and sheep-wool sweaters! This would be fun - but could be more difficult in programming this into the game.
1(C) Items: This will be the primary way to add a petting zoo to the game. An item such as a bucket of carrots for the giraffes that guests can buy at the gate- this item would be able to be purchased even by a machine (if that seems as the most feasible way). At this "vending machine" you could enable (through workshop research) the different options for feeding buckets.
The easiest way to do this for programming is by implementing 1(C) with the animals where guests can already enter the habitat!
2. Animal Behavior
I am aware that this may have been complained about but here comes my 2 cents. Okay, moving on. The animals and how they do not attack the guests. I think this should be an OPTION for users to choose. I understand that this game is designed to be family friendly, but this is something that is limiting the reach for this game. Zoo Tycoon saw the opportunity for this market and went after it- and they were rewarded. I am not saying you have to immediately jump into blood and guts and gore, but in a similar way to how the lions fight we could do that with guests - and receive fines if not in sandbox, with a similar notification that a guest has died. I really think this would be beneficial because it actually makes the behavior more realistic. Perhaps the wolves do not attack when they are without the pack or elephants charge only when a calf is near ie. Please consider this change and try to implement it.
Thank you for reading.
