Thread for publicising your issues that are otherwise expiring due to lack of votes/confirmation

Unfortunately, rather than deciding on priority and investigating bugs themselves, FD have outsourced the prioritization and confirming of bugs to the players, turning it into a popularity contest.

This is the game we have to play now if we want FD to pay attention to the issues that are not getting enough attention.

Its quite obvious that many people don't look at the issue tracker or never bother searching for existing reports when raising issues. I'm sure a lot of people just rage quit when facing the same issue time and again. Possibly they did raise an issue and it expired, basically never getting looked at by FD.

Therefore I suggest we use this thread to get the attention to bugs that FD needs to look at.

Rules are simple:

1) Post a link to the issue you created.
2) Give a brief description if you want to help people understand what its about before clicking the link.
3) Try not to use this thread to deflect or argue about whether a bug report is deserved.
4) However, if you do know for sure that something isn't a bug or shouldn't be/does not need to be reported, let the poster know so they don't waste people's time upvoting or FD's time looking at it. For example, maybe its a duplication of another issue, so it can be merged and people can combine their efforts to vote/confirm a single issue rather than multiple, which would reduce the chance of success.

The issue tracker is a joke, and every last person I have mentioned it to outside this game just give me a response of "What?"

It does not work and never will.

Frontier failed hard on this particular idea and they need to scrap it.
 
My pet peeve: the tritium donation bug. Must have expired 3 times already. So what you see should be version 3 by now.


You can read the details in the issue tracker and/or search for "tritium donation bug" on youtube. I guess all the videos are just me, which is part of the problem (my particular method of mining, I guess). I even tagged Sally about it and she said something along the lines of "I'm on it" or something. Whatever that means...

But at this point also a big thank you to FDev as with the latest update my frequent CTDs are finally gone. Game works very stable again for me! 👍
The issue tracker seems to work in such cases, as quite a number of players had frequent CTDs. However, I am not sure if CTDs are fixed for others.

As its an expired issue, can you make a new one so it can be voted on/confirmed by others?
 
The bug I would like to report is the issue tracker itself, frankly.

It is clearly not working as intended, and perhaps FD could consider using a more tried-and-tested bug reporting method such as a bug forum, as so many online games use?

Depends on what the "intent" is.

This thread is, unfortunately, an excellent idea.

If I can offer some suggestions based on past threads that have been successful at calling attention to issues:

DO link to a non-expired issue report
DO describe the issue well enough that someone not clicking on every link can assess if you're talking about something that affects them
DO include screenshots if you have them
DON'T tag Sally in every post :D
 
I was thinking the other day that a thread should be made to advertise issues on the Issue Tracker - looks like I wasn't alone in that thinking :p

Here's one that I had to remake since it originally expired:

Incorrect Guardian Plasma Charger Distributor Draw
The in-game Distributor Draw for the Class 2 GPCs is listed as 1.25 MW, but my testing has indicated it's around 12.5 MJ for a full charge. What Outfitting leads me to believe is the following:

1.25 MW (MJ/s) x 1.8s charge-up time = 2.25 MJs per fully charged shot

Is the 12.5 MJ Distro Draw is actually intended, and if so, where does that factor of 10 come from and can we have it noted somewhere in Outfitting?

Note: This may also affect the other two sizes as well.
 
As commendable as your approach is, what is it supposed to achieve? I'm strictly against the fact that bugs are now being upvoted by people who have never come into contact with the bug. Out of solidarity, so to speak. That would basically be nothing more than a statement in the direction of "ok, we accept this nonsense".

I don't like it, but its the game we've been given to play, so let's play it, but doesn't mean we can't skew the results in our favour.

Exactly what the OP states - to make FDev aware of bugs that might otherwise be going unnoticed because nobody is checking the unconfirmed bugs list.

I understand finding it distasteful to engage with a broken system, but if your goal is to improve things, that's often what you have to do. Which is not to say you stop calling out the system for being broken - as in many other areas of life, both approaches often need to exist side-by-side.

Oh, agreed on this. Confirming bugs you haven't personally experienced doesn't help anyone, least of all the developers who use reporters' data to figure out what triggers a bug. I'm less concerned about who upvotes bugs; since you get a limited number of votes to distribute, there's only so far that can go and I can think of legitimate instances where you'd want to express that a confirmed bug you don't personally experience is nevertheless important.

Here's one people might care about: The SRV scanner isn't working properly in Odyssey anymore. In Horizons, distant signal sources are visualized as narrow spikes on the scanner, and as you get closer, they resolve into wider, shorter signal sources that can be identified.

In Odyssey, they rarely do so anymore. I travelled for 20+ minutes, spotting dozens to hundreds of spikes, but they all vanished as I got nearer. I only ended up finding about 3 signal sources in 20 minutes, where I'd have found dozens in Horizons.

I theorize this is the result of some sort of pruning taking place to improve FPS, and it's not properly generating distant objects in an attempt to improve FPS. This makes freeform exploration on surfaces almost entirely pointless.

This sounds a bit like a very old bug.
