Threat 5 non human signal source

Visited several of the non human signal USS (7 IIRC) in an Eagle and noticed the following:

1. Once you drop in, the Thargoid scans you. It stays green.
2. It stays green if you stay 1km away. After some time, it jumps out.
3. If you get closer than 1 km, it emits a number of Thargons | drones that build a circle around the ship.
4. If you fire, it gets hostile. Lost an Eagle.
5. If you dont fire and get out of the 1km circle, proceed with 2.

The Thargoids inside those USS are not wearing a decal like the one in the vid.

Sure. I could have waited 10 more minutes and die of boredom. They should be more dangerous than a normal 1v1 against a cutter or corvette or something similar ;)

I take it all of you experiencing these attacks are voluntarily going into the threat 5 USS. Is anyone getting Hyperdicted / Interdicted and then attacked?

A friend of mine was hyperdicted and faced by a wing of 3 hostile plant interceptors afterwards. That apparently was quite a different experience from the rather harmless USS...

Attacked, drew the thargoid away, boosted back and managed to rescue 1 x escape pod.

Handed in Irens Dock along with some Meta Alloy. Nothing special happened.

Flying Cobra Mk3 boost of 550 m/s

Took some damage (down to 90%) and lost shields almost instantly. This was a threat 5

Well they don't use human fuel... tried to be a friendly Rat, and show not all humans are pewpewers :(

Using collector limpets - just pulled an occupied escape pod right out of the Thargoids tractor beam then did a fast getwaway :)
Sometimes they aggro - sometimes not - but, they can't catch me , come on people we have to get out pilots out of there !

You should get your own thread mate, I will sub. Thank you for updates from front!

Just found a Non-Human Signal Source (Threat Level 5) in the Asterope system. When I arrived, a Thargoid ship was scanning the wreckage of 4 Imperial Clippers. I approached and it seemed to get a little ticked off because it turned to face me very quickly and deployed "hardpoints" (those little floaty guys that zip around the ship). I did NOT deploy hardpoints in return and just sat there hoping for the best (I also backed off a tad to give it some personal space). It turned away and kept scanning the wrecked Imperial ships. Once it got tired, it turned and left. I couldn't keep up with it. I gotta say, those sound engineers did a great job on these Thargoid ships. What a cool noise!

If anybody's struggling to find them, try Pleiades Sector PN-T B3-0

As soon as you jump in, there's non-human USS's popping up every 5 seconds or so.

I see there are Thargoid Probes at the USS's. Shouldn't be too hard to find them any more.

They seem to be scanning and collecting anything in the vicinity in the Non-Human Signal Sources.

If you get too close, attack or them off they're turning Red and will open fire from the main body as well as from the Drones which form a tight circle and emit energy shots.

So far here's what I'm see-ing, as I drop in to the USS the Thargoid will move on a quick intercept (fastest I've seen them move)- it will try it's "pulse" (haven't been hit by one yet - too fast for it) - I loop round the wrecks deploy limpets and start collecting - Thargoid may then come after me or may go back to looting itself - depends on size of debris field, number of ships and distance between us.
It may be my imagination, but it does seem particularly keen on escape pods - lifting those usually gets me aggro.
If I see it scooping a pod I go all out and come in hard and try and deny it - this will usually result in full on aggro and we get in a game of flying round the debris (made harder if I'm trying to collect a cannister as I can't go too fast at the point the limpets come back). Packhounds seem to help on the Tharglets - hard to tell dmg done as it's all so fast with little target info.
If no aggro - Thargoid will warp when no loot left - if I have aggro I stick some packhounds into the Tharglet cloud and take off fast as I can fa off and jinking till I can get range to jump.
As we can't tell how much damage we may or may not be doing kind of hard to say on the next bit, but I get the impression that if I hit the mothership with with a few volleys of packhounds it seems to make it move on to using missiles itself - PD takes these down - always fired in pairs - seem to be seekers.
Not lost shields yet, but down to 43% hull through 1 ring of shield at one point - staying out till I have at least 20 tons cargo then heading in.

Lolz, I've read the tips here and just started to move away from the flower in a relaxed way after dropping in, knowing he won't attack as long as I will keep my distance.

So I boosted away, some more to be sure... turned around to look at him from afar... and he was directly IN MY FACE! Seems he started to immediately stalk me after I've jumped in :D No idea if my D-rated scanners just suck or if he isn't giving a precise reading but it seemed like he is much farther away. Oh well, lesson learned. I've now done 4 of those an:

1. There are a lot of those sites and they spawn like crazy. You could do a dozen in an hour.
2. 400 m/s is enough to run away every time, if you don't stop halfway to check if he's behind you :D
3. You can scan his wake with a wake scanner and get some wake data
4. There was no loot or any other goodies left in my sites after the flower left.
5. A lot of the mass lock comes from the debris field, so don't run in that direction.

Well, it starts nice.

Im sorry to say but thats it? How could they kill a Farragut Battle Cruiser with that damage output? Im very dissappointed!

https://youtu.be/Bkc3XW2OyIY

How many aliens attacked the Farragut? Are they able to block a farragut's FSD (it is different from ours, and based on Thargoid tech)? Do you have any idea what happened during those battles? If the answer is 'I have no idea', then maybe wait a bit before being 'very disappointed'. All I saw in that vid is you in a full wing of tooled up ships being completely unable hurt even a single Thargoid ship. ;)

Pleiades sector FM-V C2-3

Same non-human threat signal detected at Pleiades sector FM-V C2-3.

Took the risk (with Python) to have a look around.

Only one Thargoid there (my first sighting, as I've only recently started playing Elite again)..it was in a murky green cloud with a few destroyed ships on fire floating around (which was a nice effect).

I did a very quick fly-by and then it ended up just warping out (obviously I scared it ....lol).

I have a screen shot, which i can post if anyone was interested!

Z.
