Thrustmaster 16000, T.A.R.G.E.T, and Oculus Rift

Has anyone be able to get TARGET software to work with Oculus Rift?

What confuses me is that apparently you have to launch the application you're using from the TARGET software for the profile to be used. Do I set it up to launch Oculus Home or Elite Dangerous? Is it necessary to launch from TARGET software?

If you have this set up please share with me how you've accomplished the task and what you go through to start Elite Dangerous.

That's not how it works for me. I open TARGET and load my 'Elite' profile, I then load Elite (doesn't matter how, steam, ED laucher, home etc). The profile in TARGET shouldn't care what executable is running, as soon as the profile is run you should see your actual HOTAS disable in device manager and be replaced with the virtual TARGET HOTAS at which point Windows cannot see the original device. You then need to configure your binds in Elite while the profile is active.

I have a shortcut setup which actually launches TARGET & my Elite profile.

This helps, thank you very much for responding.

To be a bit more clear the version of TARGET I'm using has a 'Create Association' where I give the Association a name, an exe to run, and a path to the configuration file. This makes it appear to me as if the profile is launched from TARGET and as if the application (elite dangerous) is also launched from TARGET. This is where I'm getting confused because I don't understand your answer in relation to this example.

Here is the example they give from the user manual:

From what you've written, it sounds as if I would:
1: Run TARGET and my profile. (I have to set up all my buttons in TARGET from scratch)
2: Run any program I want and as long as that program uses my Thrustmaster 16000 it will see the virtual joystick.

I don't see how to do that with the 'fly now' feature - maybe I'm to ignore that?

I don't have any 'Fly Now' Associations. Just a list of profiles I've created for each of my flight sims. I only create profiles for titles I need the TARGET advanced features for, for the most part I fly my HOTAS stock. My Elite setup is quite elaborate though, using not only TARGET and its layers features but other third party virtual joystick axis remappers.

So yeah, I pick my profile from within Target, load it and then once it has loaded I load the game I want to play.

Unless you are programming macros or using layers there is little point in using TARGET. The stock HOTAS will work fine.

What's the advantage of using TARGET? I haven't installed it yet. T160000 + Throttle here.

You can create advanced macros and layers. The layers are great as flicking a switch on the throttle or stick will then change every button on the HOTAS to something else entirely, that applies axis as well. It also allows you to bind buttons to keys, or combinations of keys.

For example I have a nice macro for pip management. If I slide one of my buttons on my throttle forward a new layer kicks in, this layer has a series of key presses mapped to each direction on a hat on my stick. So instead of the hat moving one pip for each direction pressed it will first reset pips and then configure them into predetermined configurations such as 'defensive' (pips mostly in shields), 'attack' (pips mostly in weapons / sheilds) or 'run' (pips mostly in engines but the reamining in shields) depending on which direction the hat was pressed. Flicking my throttle switch back to the normal position will move the layer back to default and my pip management hat will return to normal functionality.

I'm wanting to program an 'S' curve for my throttle.

I'll take another look at the software tonight, your posts have cleared up a couple of things.
Thanks.
