Hardware & Technical Thrustmaster Hotas X disconnecting issue

Hello,

I had been playing ED just fine for about a week or two until recently when out of the blue I have no control on the Hotas X, It disconnects. I have the driver installed as well and it disappears from there as well, I have to try multiple USB ports and reconnecting to get it to work again. When it does, there is no set time until it disconnects again. Any suggestions? Thanks!

If you havent done, It can help: Try going to Windows Control Panel> Game Contrlos and USB> Hotas Properties and make a new calibration.

Its a long shoot, but worth trying.

Do you have other USB devices plugged in? If yes are they still working OK?

Check for device conflicts using either Device Manager or msinfo32.exe

In Device Manager go through all Human Interface Devices and Universal Serial Bus controllers and uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

These are long shots but I would check them if it were me. Check the USB settings in your BIOS settings and see if they are at the defaults - this is a very long shot (if it was wrong it should never work in theory) but you never know. You could always try clearing your BIOS as a last resort but only do this if you know how to recover from any issues!

If it's only the HOTAS then I'm afraid it might be faulty, is it still under warranty?

When you say the driver, you are just using the one that Windows automatically downloaded the first time you plugged it in right? You shouldn't use the one on the Thrustmaster website, it's not necessary.

EDIT: just thought of one more thing: when you go into Device Manager are there any devices with a yellow triangle? If yes unplug them. If no improvement then uninstall them.

I had exactly the same issue a few months back with my Hotas X, it drove me mad. I googled it and tried various solutions but nothing seemed to work. Then I think Frontier released a patch and the problem went away. Sorry this isn't very helpful but if you search the internet there are various things you can try. Try searching under something like joystick loses focus in game and see if you can find something to help.
