Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas One question- The freelook stick?

Hello,
Was wondering something from those who use this hotas. I use the right stick ALOT to look around. How does the freelook stick compare on the hotas? Is it adequate?

Thanks,

I didnt have much of an issue with hat from what I remember. I dont recomend buying one though. The sensors in the gimbal start to fail after a few weeks and cause your ship to start drifting one way or another making it unplayable. Some people have good luck with them though or at least they dont post about it anyway. I would recommend an elite 2 controller over the hotas. If your creative enough you can keybind litterly everything to it or close enough.

I bought the Hotus 4 as Im on PS4 and started ED with it, after 6 weeks it did start drifting a bit to the left and could pull you out of SC assist got advice here and amazon sent me a new one with 4 weeks to return the old

After another two weeks the "faulty" one healed itself and Ive put in 1600+ hours now so for the money it is a great deal and beyond amazon Thrustmaster give 24 months warrenty in Europe I havekept and paid for the second so even if it dies tomorrow I will still have one to carry on with my second job

So far at 4p/5c an hour Im very happy with it

This is what has been concerning me. We don't have alot of options and I'm reading the horror stories with it's quality. With the new flight sim that is coming, I"m hoping to see some more alternatives.

To cure floating left or right just increase the deadzone. Some sticks are extremely sensitive especially after a calibration.
My stick is over 10 years old and is perfect. But has had a full rework on internal wiring. Reconditioned hehe and I play in VR

It's like I said. It works for some people and others it doesnt. The problem I had isn't corrected by increasing the deadzone. It only delays it a couple of weeks. If your comfortable with potentially DIY fixing it you might could try it. Some people on the forums have suggested replacing the sensors and adding more wire to increase the slack. Those solutions werent around when I had mine because I had it on day one. Id still go with the elite 2 but good luck either way you decide to go.

There is a known fix for the "stick twist problem" in some HOTAS joysticks. The one below is specifically for the T-Flight:

1. Remove the chromed head screws from the side of the stick grip.
2. Gently separate the two halves. Be careful because there are four separate plastic parts that fit together.
3. Once you separate the halves of the stick you'll see the Z-Rotation pot on the top of the white shaft that extends from the main pot in the base.
4. Dab a very small bit of WD-40 (or something similar) on top and let it penetrate, then reassemble the stick.

This works like a charm for most people who encounter this problem. I noticed it happening once; when I saw this method I kind of doubted it but decided to give it a try, and it worked. Haven't got this problem since. o7

Headlook is rubbish, it's the hat switch by default, and can't be inverted unlike headlook on a controller
The default headlook controls are indeed dreadful, they were the first thing I changed after getting the HOTAS One.

I have look on/off bound to B1 (I think - it's the one on the side that sits under your knuckle with your finger on the trigger) on hold not toggle, and headlook movement bound to the stick not the hat. You can invert the Y-axis when it's set to stick. There's one more setting, direct or something else (accumulate?) - I use direct.

It's not quite as fast as using the controller owing to the increased range of movement required for joystick rather than thumbstick, but it's a colossal improvement over the standard binds.
