Thrustmaster t16000m fcs hotas vs logitech X52?

Fun fact(i didnt know):

T16000m was designed back in 2016 especially for ED,

But,

ED ingame hotas is "designed" to look like x52

I used a mix of products for Elite (and other sims)

Stick - Thrustmaster t16000m
Pedal - Thrustmaster TFRP pedals
Throttle - Throttle from Saitek Cyborg 3D Rumble Stick (actually only half of it, the stick part was not working and had been removed)

I would say, the T16000m not the top notch gear but it get the job done. If you are tight on your budget, I guess you could try T16000m. IIRC T16000m costed much less than X52 set, and that was why i got 16000m then TFRP.

Good day cmdrs!

What hotas should I choose between these two

thrustmaster t16000m fcs hotas or logitech x52,I have no other option.

Nice day cmdrs!

Thank you in advace! 07
Surprised at the glowing feedback here for of the t16000m. Mine was great for the first few months before it started to die. Drifting on multiple axis, buttons not working etc. after 13 months it died altogether.
I decided that it was probably a one off so bought two more (!!! Wanted dual stick and these were in the correct price bracket). I was wrong again. A few months in, I am needing to constantly correct … 18 months later one has died. And I have moved away from TM completely.
Repairing them showed how cheaply they are made. Poor buttons, trapped wires, inadequate strength where it matters.
I tried to repair the first one … thinking it must be OK … they cannot be putting out stuff that does not survive … but when 2 died while 3 was ailing …

I also had the throttle … that lasted much longer … and is very nice to use … but it eventually went the way of the sticks … intermittent faults and a lack of reliability when it mattered.

I've got two untis of the X52 (pro) because the first one broke and now servers as a spare part supply.
The quality of the X52 is bad, like really bad. Opening it up you will encounter lots of glue, badly managed cables and a very fragile yaw spring with horns.
These horns broke on my first unit, rendering yaw centering useless so you would have no fedback on how much you would yaw.
Then, most buttons need some good amount of force to be triggered, same goes for the hat on the throttle.

I would definately vote for the T16k even though I never used it, it looks like it has much better quality than the X52.

I've got the T1600 HOTAS. Its quite nice, although i don't think its the same quality as the HOTAS X. The stick twist went early on and now the back wobbler thing on the stick is starting to act up.

While it does provide a lot more buttons than the HOTAS X, i do find myself thinking perhaps another X would have been a nice choice.

Another nice thing about the 1600 stick is the finger analogue joystick on the back side, which i use for vertical and sideways thrusters.

I've taken a look at at the X52 HOTAS and it has a lot to recommend it. While it does have a finger joystick (hat) on the back of the stick, it doesn't look as nice as the one on the 1600 in terms of control.

The X52 seems more suited overall to flight sims than ED, with a lot of its sliders and twisty things not being so useful for ED.

Now reading Crimson Kain's reply, i'm more thinking the HOTAS X is probably the best choice, unless you have money for something like a Virpil.

… Virpil is what I went for. At the rate the TMs were dying … it will pay for itself … eventually! … but in the mean time I have a stick/throttle that does as it is told! The quality of gaming is much improved … any poor flying is now purely my fault!

Wish i could afford one, but the prices are crazy compared to Thrustmaster and Saitek.

X52’s seem to last for years while T16K users are fixing or replacing their stuff every few months.

Best control set would be X52 for travel and hauling, but bind the mouse flight controls as well and use a good mouse for FA-OFF controls and combat.

Before Logitech took over it was the other way around. My X52 Pro is from the MadCatz times, I believe it's the worst you could get but it still works.

If those two are the only realistic options, go for the T16k and then look up how to replace the Z axis pot with hall effect sensor.
However, in the long term you would be much better off by investing in a Vkb Gladiator Nxt (with or without addons).

I have had 5 Thrustrmaster t16000 sticks fail all in the twist control over the last 2 1/2 years.
With the price of the t16000 more than double I have gotten the Winwing Orion HOTAS, and love it

I've gone through 3 T16000 sticks and 1 throttle. The trigger gets wonky for me, no so much the yaw. They used to feel better but now they seem cheapy and I was never a fan of the base LED.

I have used the Saitek stick, it was simple but effective.

Happy enough with my T16000M, even though I've joined the ranks of people who have had to pull it apart to sort out the twist axis. It doesn't get very heavy use though (only use it for ED, and I'll have large gaps where I never touch ED). I removed the LEDs when I fixed the twist, that's easy enough to do.

I tried to repair the first one … thinking it must be OK … they cannot be putting out stuff that does not survive …
Actually, they can put out LOTS of stuff that doesn't survive. People will continue to buy it, and rebuy it, because it's cheap. A lot of gamers can't 'afford' a good stick.. but somehow CAN afford several cheap ones. This thread is a good example.

A VKB is more expensive than a T16k.. sure. But if you're like me, after I bought the third T16k in two years, I got a bit annoyed. How much was I spending on these things ? Not to mention downtime between orders, aggravation from trying to cope with yaw/centering issues... The list went on and on. Eventually, I found I couldn't purchase another cheap stick because it was getting too expensive.

Sure, we'd all love a VKB gunfighter, plus a Virpil throttle.. but that's a little extreme at over $900 for the pair.. BUT... A VKB NXT is around $150. That puts it solidly in line with what an average person can reasonably afford. More expensive in one chunk, sure, but not when you account for the 3 T16ks.. Other CMDRs have commented on their "Joystick Graveyard ".. I'd have one too if I kept the junk around. We all went the cheap route at the start. It's like the free Anaconda at Hutton..

To the OP :
Buy the T16K.. but buy it KNOWING that it will bite the dust inside a year. You WILL get the centering issue. You WILL get the yaw issue. Start saving NOW.. $5/10 a month, and in a year when the T16k bites it, you'll have an additional $100 to add to the price of another T16k so you can buy something good. Avoid the trap of cheap peripherals.
