Newcomer / Intro Thrustmaster T16000m thrust buttons mapping

I recently purchased the Thrustmaster T16000m joystick
I am trying to map the up,down, left and right thrust buttons to the h button controller on the front of the joystick, normally they are bound to the divert power options.
I go into the controller setup and choose them for the various thrust directions, they are recognized as the left, right,up, down arrows.
After saving and returning to the game they work on the keyboard but not the joystick itself they do nothing when clicked in the various directions.
I've seen the Tim Wheatley Youtube video where he mapped them so it must work, am I missing something?

There are two places in the config for thruster controls. One of them is "landing override". Basically you can config a different set of controls for when your landing gear is up or down. Try the controls with landing gear in both positions. Does it work in one and not the other?

I tried that and it makes no difference, their is an input for analog input for left, right and up/down thruster using an axis but they are already used for moving the ship.
The button works in the various directions for power diversion but not for thrust directions

This is how my T16000m thrusters are mapped:

This setup works for me both in normal flight and during docking without any problems.

I made the settings the usual way: mouse click in the field, then push the joystick button. Are you using any extra software or drivers for your joystick? I'm using only the generic Windows joystick driver.

I'm also using a T16000M with standard Windows joystick driver and have thrusters mapped to POV hat. Works fine.

Thanks it was the Thrustmaster software that caused the problem, I turned it off and no problem with mapping the buttons
