Thrustmaster warthog joystick not detected

I play in VR, have the Oculus Rift. I am trying to switch from the TM 1600 joystick to the Warthog.
I've gone online in search for an answer and none seem to work. Thinking of deleting Steam and Oculus but not sure if I would lose everything doing so.
Tried via ED Launcher and still no go. Don't really want to use Target.

Has to be a way to get it to work. I'm on Windows 10. Any suggestions, maybe I miss something.

From what I've been able to gather is, though one doesn't have to utilize "TARGET" one must still download and install it. I'm not a geek so can't tell ya why. I had issues when I first bought my Warthog and after trying numerous other stuff. Installed the TARGET program but I don't utilize it; Since then, no more issues.

It depends if you have the same problem I had when I updated windows version 1809 to 1909 which ended with I got problems with track ir and my joysticks but I undone the update to version 1809 again and everything worked as it would again, hope it helps ;)

This is so frustrating, going on day 2 trying to get it work in ED. Computer recognizes it, just not in the game. I've tried with Steam and Oculus turned off and on. Tried directly from ED itself. Everything is up to date.

Don't have a clue on how to do this to be frank.

So, you installed the drivers, and in the windwos 'game controller setup' it works?
But ED simply doesn't detect it?
The t16.0000 is disconnected?

If windows detects it then the stick itself is working.

You could try to reset your bindings by deleting the binding file. Its in uhh.. appdata\local\frontier... I think.
Maybe move it somewhere else first, don't keep the file in the foulder though.

At least I can tell you that I've been using the Warthog for year, and I never had this problem.

I use target though. You could try it with it. Takes one minute to setup and doesn't affect how it works without.

As Hossi said, but I'd add, copy your bindings first ;)

As a VR/ED/HOG user I can assure you it works.. So much so and so well, I wore out my right thumb switch :D Now back on a X56 until I can get a new switch.

Don;t give up, the hog is amazing!

Something is terribly wrong. Will get back here with more info after my work day. Really appreciate the help.

I assume you are running ED through Steam? I had a simmilar problem a few weeks back. I'm not sure how to do it step-by-step but my point is that recent versions of Steam hijack all of your controller inputs for a purpose of rebinding them and making them compatible with games that do not support controllers at all. Go to Steam controller settings and untick everything. Make sure you reboot your PC afterwards.

Sorry I can't help other than say that i know for a fact the warthog works just fine with ED as I am using one. Maybe make sure there is only one joystick bound in the device listing and drivers.

I've tried that, both ticked/untick and still no go. The joystick on the computer in the Control panel, under Devices and Printers, it shows as a multimedia device. Is this how it should show?

Also I am trying to get it to work with rudders and the TWCS Throttle that was part of the T1600 FCS. This should not matter I would assume.

I think I might have it working without Target. Was able to create a Custom folder at last then make my bindings, not done yet. Had a chance to try it for a few seconds before ED went into maintenance mode dang darn it. Well tomorrow is another day. Night all.

My Warthog shows under devices at the top in Control panel, not in Multimedia devices.
You did install the Warthog drivers? You won't really need them on a fresh install, but maybe the T1600 drivers are messing with it?
I never used TARGET. I have all the TM devices connected to a powered USB3.0 Hub.

I knew something was wrong. Yes i install the drivers, followed the instructions when told to connect all TM devices and so on. I will try deleting the 1600 drivers now as it had never cross my ageing mind.

I just noticed a very strange thing.
My HOTAS (X52) only works in VR mode (Vive Pro). If I launch the game in pancake mode I get absolutely no input neither from the HOTAS or a wired Xbox controller. The game doesn't see any button presses if I try to remap the buttons too. The screen on the throttle stick that usually shows which buttons I have pressed shows nothing and it starts showing buttons again as soon as I close the game.
The weird thing is that everything works just fine in VR...
Could it be a Windows thing with their recent 1909 (or whatever) update? Everything definitely worked a weak or so before the update last time I launched the game.
For the sake of experiment I also tried downloading a regular non-Steam version of the game and everything is the same.
Anyway I sent a support ticket to FD and will let you know if anything productive will come out of this.

Mine has never not worked. I have Warthog stick and throttle, the Cougar MFD's, and Slaw rudder pedals.

Installed originally on Win 7 and carried over to Win 10. Just plugged them in and pushed the buttons I wanted when programming the controls through the Options menu directly in ED. I never used Target. Recently I replaced the joystick base with a VCPWarBRD base and again, just re-input the controls directly into ED.

I don't have any other drivers from other controllers, and I do not use Steam.

Disregard this... Seems like my USB hub is on its last breath.

I run the Warthog stick, throttle and t-rudders with windows 10 successfully. Like you I launch thru steam and I do not use the target software.
I had some of the issues described above. The thrustmaster devices are very picky about USB versions. I run Windows 10 Pro Build 1903 currently.

Try this, in the search bar on the bottom left of the toolbar, type game and hopefully you will see 'Set up USB Game controllers' option from the control panel come up. Select that and a small window should appear showing the attached controllers and their status. Mine shows T-Rudder, Throttle - HOTAS Warthog and Joystick - HOTAS Warthog all with a status of OK. This means that windows 10 has identified these USB devices correctly and loaded drivers etc for them.

Please let me know what yours shows.
