I was using a similar setup with an Extreme 3D Pro + Orbweaver during beta 1.
Excellent combo
On the Orbweaver, I assigned the 4-way stick to the throttle (push/pull). A modifier (Shift - 06 on the Nostromo) provided the instant max-throttle and 50% throttle (sweet spot) with the same push/pull reflexes. Very effective in combat.
The common WASD keys were assigned to the power management. You can even use the modifier key to drop some macros on those (power profiles).
What would be the CTRL key (11 on the Nostromo) was assigned to FAOff (hold).
I guess you could use the Nostromo wheel to scroll through the subtargets.
The button above the 'stick' was for the Boost and the FSD (using the modifier key). Also very effective and accident-free.
Space and modifier + space was for the comms.
I'm now using a X-55 throttle and it's not significantly superior. The throttle management at low speed is more comfortable though.
But the FAOff use was better with the Orbweaver as there was no throttle position. Therefore, when engaging the FAOff the throttle
was automatically set to zero and I could use the stick to manage the thrusters with controlled impulsions. Afaik, that is not possible with the X-55 throttle (except with additional and cumbersome bindings).
Target lock, target selection, heat sinks, UI navigation and the thrusters were on the joystick, sometimes using the Orbweaver modifier key.
As you can imagine, I was very satisfied.
I mainly bought the X-55 for DCS World + modules.
Have fun
