"Thunderchild" is Jameson's Son

Not getting involved in the debate really, just helping with the age thing.

Ok it's Wiki and I'm fairly certain his bio in game (No access atm) says the same but check out the age of Edmund Mahon.

Thanks, Yes :) I picked that up too. Also it's worth noting that "[Boffin] Keybuk (CMDR Scott)" in the Canonn discord also raised that same point and there was an interesting discussion on the Jameson lineage which included healthy lifespans in ED (which do seem to be much longer) and how many generations and how Lori fits in and how old she is, etc. learned some interesting things from that that I didn't know, which was really cool!

How about you retitle it something as "Tinfoil time: Is Thunderchild Jameson's son?".

Because there isn't a way to change thread titles or I would have done already because I genuinely think I have a really interesting theory and it's annoying that instead of discussing it people are having a go at me for word choice in the title... I'm having flashbacks to school 30 years ago here...

When we spent hours debating hypothesis and theories and being sure to have every single evidence before establishing anything as proven, your post feels like an overstated hypothesis.

So, again, I never said anything at all about being proven in any way shape or form. The literal words I use are: "Speculation", "what I think ", "I'm not sure", "evidence I've based this on: (link to Canonn website as a source), "I suspect", "I believe", "could be"... Honestly, I've no idea at all why you seem to think I suggested any sort of "proof". I'm not trying to get into a debate, I'm honestly just boggled as to why you think that.

Secondly: I've read quite a lot of your posts. "You" collectively, Canonn members, and you personally Volgrand - you recently called for an eyeball search of the entire surface Merope 5c because you "reckon" there's something there... despite it being searched multiple times already and there being nothing there when the POI bug hit and it was checked again...https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...d-your-help!?p=6115486&viewfull=1#post6115486 and LCU has been/is working on software to help that search based entirely on what amounts to nothing at all more than your "gut feeling" and I was one of the first people to sign up for the search because I totally am up for checking out all this stuff even it's crazy and will happy spend dozens of my personal hours helping you out and I totally backed your idea right from the start because there literally wasn't a better idea...Contrast that with what's happened here...I didn't even call for any action, I just shared my idea in the hopes that it might actually help resolve an outstanding mystery since no-one else seems to have any ideas... and I get a lot of flak for it.

A great many of you (Canonn people) post essays and speculate wildly, very often, and generate all sorts of wild and crazy ideas, many of you have nothing whatsoever to back up your ideas and you just speculate (because there's nothing at all wrong with that in any way and in ED there's so very, very few ways to test hypothesis a lot of it does come down to speculating) - I've read a LOT of old posts and I'm on the Canonn discord because I do actually do my research, and there's been no shortage of speculation by pretty much everyone and anyone, including Canonn members.

I feel a bit like there's some double standards happening here, and honestly it's not the first time I've seen this type of behaviour from senior Canonn members.

To be honest, I am feeling pretty defensive because from my point of view I've just been attacked to one degree or another out of left field by three people I respected - on an entirely different thread to this one I will add - and then talked about in the third person as though I wasn't there, which honestly is behaviour I've not experienced since, again, primary school. I've really honestly been quite stunned (which is why it's taken me a couple of days to get back to this).

For what it's worth, I am quite aggressive in my arguing style, and had you come back with my arguments Moribus, I was going to agree to disagree because as you rightly pointed out in the tinfoil thread we're basically going round and round in circles now.

Exactly. I have no problem at all with an aggressive arguing style, you actually helped me tighten up my ideas a bit (if you read my comments you'll see I did adjust them based on some of your comments, which I did note too). I like discussing ideas, a lot, but I think we'd gone beyond any discussion into the point where we're just disagreeing with no end.

But I still don't like being called a troll, and if you were to look back at your rep history, I HAVE agreed with you before. Just not on this.

I'm not going to offer a fake apology because I did feel like some of your replies were quite trollish (whether I was right to think that or not). But I will promise to figure out a better way of saying that in the future :)

To get back to the actual topic :)

If anyone has alternative theories as to what/who Thunderchild is that they think are better than mine, I'd be happy to discuss those, because honestly I'd love to get to the bottom of it and I genuinely don't care if I'm right, I just haven't seen a better idea yet.

I think I'm on to something with my theory, and it presents several opportunities to look for more information, I think, and I've looked into this a bit and it doesn't really seem like anyone's got anywhere so far... am I wrong? I mean these logs have been known about for a while and there doesn't seem to have been any further discoveries relating to Dr. Lockhart or Project Equinox or Thunderchild or the 'Data Archive' that seems like it might be pretty important, so surely that means my ideas are equally as valid as anyone's at this point? Am I wrong?

Click Edit, then click Go Advanced. You can edit the thread title there.

Edit: Or at least this did work a couple of weeks back. Not apparently working properly today as the title edit on my other thread only changed the title on the OP, not on the displayed thread name which is weird as I've edited it twice before...

The only thing that I can think of that's really credible is that Thunderchild is simply a GalCop founded research arm (their equivalent of INRA). They presumably dug deeper and longer into Thargoids than INRA did, and possibly over a wider range of topics.

Literally the only thing I can think off that supports this, is the speedy formation of Aegis and the development of technology just seems very off and coincidental. The contingency was the releasing of their data from the archive (or Unit 01 found it) to whoever/whatever Unit 01 is and they/them/it used it to form Aegis.

I think there's more to find about both Equinox and Thunderchild in the game to answer all the 50,000 questions around this, but they're not garnering the same sort of focus that the INRA or Jameson ships have received so there's no progress.

I'm not convinced the Sarasvati is the archive mentioned. The logs were interesting to a degree, but certainly not something we need for what comes ahead as Julian's message stated. Also you noticed the lack of GalNet response? I don't think it's anything major yet.

You also have a history of discussing unproven theories as established facts, as we had already I think three discussions about that ;)

Not that I can help on the topic subject, past history of the Elite universe is fuzzy at best for me.
