Tick Tock?

So the tick is in snowball mode is it?

This happens often, usually on a Thursday or Friday, then over the weekend destroys weeks if not months of others BGS efforts.
Bug report or ticket or other methods of this having been brought to your attention, aside..

Fdev, do you have something in place to tell you this is happening, to tell you the tick is complete, or the tick is still not finished from 3 days ago and is now on attempt #4 but has done partial updates in xx%..., something that tells you the Universe's BGS has grown an extra set of wheels and is careening towards the abyss at an increasing rate?
as always, man overboard.
Logic tells me that we have 2 BGS's ticking per day, 1 from each universe.
Horizons has systems that seem like every 12 hours they get a tick, others getting nothing, some even changing every time you fly into them every hour or 2.
what gives?
Picture a melting iceball rolling down a fresh snowfall mountain, whats going to happen when it HITS the bottom? this is Horizons BGS right now.

Great if you are aware, if u are, odd that you wouldn't stop it asap, as every tick is causing massive mess. no need to duplicate it daily is there?

There was a post about them to rebalance the impact of Odyssey at about this time now, so that might be the cause.

we hope that post allows fdev to see and fix before end of day, this has been going on since OD released but has just recently hit the noticeable cascade effect over the last couple days.

SO!!! fdev, we are having some time travel issues. STILL.

not even sure how many ticks per 24 hours are happening anymore.
yesterday I fought in cz's for about 4 hours, went to a system that was pending war and I get to see its actually already lost 1.
so in that 4 hour period that 1 system had at least 2 ticks.
to go from pending(could easily have been near tick time) to active at 0:0, to 0:1 in 4 hours.
there are two points in time that I am seeing mostly consistent changes to the BGS, but it does seem that some systems are on a different time scale and moving too fast to deal with.
these seem to sort of match the same times that get listed in Jane Turners thread https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/when-and-what-is-the-tick.400292/

it is too much
and these systems that seem to have their own schedule are impossible.

Are you planning on getting the TICK under control any time soon?

like maybe do it manually for a few weeks till you get it figured out....turn it off, let it rest for a day.

and now 6 hours later the one system is 0:2......3 ticks in 10 hours.

you have been told by so many of us about the multiple ticks per day.

it's still a thing and has made the BGS useless, pointless.

Maybe they're working on getting rid of the tick completely and getting things to update more dynamically.

I'm not sure how people are saying that there is more than one tick in 24 hours.

then you are either blind or cannot read
systems and inf and conflicts all change once per day, not 3 times, or more
makes it pointless trying to fight cz's when their status changes every 4 hours to every 12 hours.

I play the game and I get to SEE the tick.
I don't need to monitor some site that monitors the game I am IN.
And the BGS players, like myself, KNOW when the tick is. TWICE a day is the minimum right now.

But the point is...its still broken.

And FYI, Fdev CAN and HAS controlled it manually.
THIS, they could/should do now if they cared at all about the BGS players that have been playing this game for years.

don't waste time in here telling me about what they are doing, I am a programmer and I am not blind.
A broken shell of an almost game, shoved onto Horizons in this fashion.
each new patch makes it crystal clear just how NOT ready it was.
besides all what was broken that I could see on release day.


I was all on board, till this very poor choice was made.

the announced reset of EDO the other day after the patch seems to verify for my tests that the 2 ticks I am seeing are one for horizons and one for EDO.
the second tick I see actually moved after the reset.

anyone else notice that?

Fdev, is this intentional?

will there be or is there a plan for the 'tick' ?
is it intended to cause grief multiple times per day?
