Now I'm going to show an exhibit that will suffer some modifications in the future. At this moment it's only the habitat for Baird tapirs but I'll include capibaras and if some day we get rheas they will also be added here. This will also mean that I'll have to modify some parts of the exhibit.
When I showed the Variwald I already showed part of this exhibit, as tapirs and lemurs share the same building for its indoor areas. This main building is the "Tapirhaus". To create this building I used as a base the tapir house from Tierpark Cottbus. In fact, many parts of the exhibit are based on it
This is the main entrance. At the left you can see the entrance to the Variwald:
Between the Variwald and the Tapirhaus there are some picnic tables and snack/drink machines:
And this is an aerial view of the building. The smaller part is the one used to the lemurs, while the big one is for the tapirs. On the back part there are some staff facilities.
This is how it looks inside. I wanted to put some terrariums on each side of the visitors access door but the 4x4m terrariums are too big. Initially I wanted to create two different indoor parts for the animals and two outdoor exhibits (one for a male/female and other for a breeding pair) but I faced again my nightmare when creating shelters.... the animal hitboxes
Only one of the animal doors can be used by adult tapirs. The other one can be used by babies and hope (crossing fingers) that capibaras will not complain about a 4 meters wide door
And now let's see the outdoor part. This is the path along its exhibit:
And one of the viewpoints that uses some rocks to avoid that tapirs get too close:
The other viewpoint gives the visitors the chance to see the animals taking a bath. It will be also a good viewpoint when I'll add the capibaras:
