General / Off-Topic Tim "Avicii" Bergling dead at only 28

Without taking away from the loss of a life and one so young, (I was just talking to the wife on the bus this morning about how Swedes tend to live long lives, she is swedish, we live in Sundsvall).

I take it here you mean he made house music mainstream in Sweden. Im 48 and was dancing to house music when I was 18.

Well I was talking modern times... All eras have their own style.

I wouldn't be using TMZ as a credible source really... :/

However, it seems that this newspaper has used sources close to Avicii and also to the investigation

And with his alcohol problems, I will not be surprised that he decided to finish by this way

And you still failed..

This thread isnt about his music, just so that you know..

I will be also insensitive. Given the the drama and suffering of unknown people on a daily basis, I cannot be bothered with the death of a rich pop star. This is partly about valueing the life of the fortunate more than the rest.

BBC puts regularily news on their homepage about the death of children who suffered well before the can comprehend what's happening to them, and that's what shakes me. Knowing that these stories are only the tip of the iceberg... ignorance is sometimes truly a blessing.

Another example when half of Facebook dresses in French tricolor after the Paris terror attacks. Something similar happens in Russia, no one gives a biowaste.

Imo that is not insensitive thinking, that's good thinking.

Yes. For my part I am much more sad when a child dies under the knocks and the s of irresponsible adults

I did not know Avicii. What moves me it is the criminal aspect of the business world

I agree. And I recently had a discussion about this with a close friend. She said Avicii made a choice of pursuing a career which she said he knew was gonna be demanding, but not necessarily knowing it would ruin him.
I'm saying there's a person behind the artist and the industry isn't interested in the person, just the trademark/artist and the industry will do everything they can to uphold a certain image in order to cash in on the trademark. This could ultimately destroy the person behind the artist. Or that's what I believe in anyway.

Exactly. And the man becomes a product and he is certainly under the threat of reprisals and lawsuits, if he decides to break his contracts

Avicii owned $ 85 million but he was a prisoner of the system, perhaps he could not run away, the suicide being the only way out for him

Correct. And everyone can have mental illness regardless of wealth.
