Time for a New Trip into the Core!...

My preparations are almost complete! My Orca has been FSD Engineered to Grade 5, loaded up with luxuries, generally optimized for long range travel, and I'm basically ready to set out on my New Project:

The For the Mug Exploration Expedition!... my plan is to go vaugely corewards, visit colonia, and, every now and then, announce my presence at some galactic highlight, and give out Hutton Mugs, food and drink to any explorers that come to meet me!...

There is but one question remaining. What colour should my ship be?.. I have the Vibrant Paint Package, and there will be plenty of selfies, (and hopefully even group pictures with other cargo rack owning explorers who come to partake in my luxurious giveaways!).. so I should head out in the best possible colour! :)

What say you, fellow explorers?.. Purple?.. Yellow?..

Electric blue, if that's an option.

Unfortunately I'm not kitted with any cargo racks, but I'm half way to Beagle Point, so I might catch you on the way back.

Look me up in-game and I'll be able to track your progress

I went with blue, and left the Bubble today! :)
Just about 1kLYs from Sol now, and allready seeing untagged ice balls. Heading sort of in between Colonia and Sgr A*... will travel a few kLYs corewards before calling my first party.
Here's a nice picture from a ring around a red gas giant orbiting a swollen giant star...

The For the Mug Expedition has now reached Thor's Eye. This engineered Orca is surprisingly quick at making distance.

Any explorers nearby who want to pop in for a free Mug, Drink and Food?.. :)
I fly in Open, but I suppose I could join Fleetcom in case someone doesn't want to come into Open.. (if someone tells me how to apply for membership there).
Anyone interested in meeting up should post here so we may decide upon a time in the coming days... :)

Commander, why don't you drop by to visit Chiggy and myself near the core for a spot of joint ELW tagging?

We are around 8k from Colonia in a coreward direction.

If you plan on travelling this far out let me know :)

The Journey Continues!... This day has seen a Neutron Boost Jump!.. It was a very vigorous Neutron Jet, I found it difficult to get out of it, but in the end, my trusty Orca got out with only 2% FSD damage. I also found a nice planet with Iron Magma volcanism, but I did not have time to do a thorough search of it...

Ever onwards goes the expedition. I'm not more than 9k LYs from Sol yet, though. It takes time making distance with a laden Orca. Even with all the Neutron Boosts I've been doing togday.

I'm starting to doubt the cleverness of heading straight into the core with a laden Orca. I think I'll head for Gagarin's Gate for some minor hull repairs, (Neutron Stars), and then head for the core.

In classic Celestial Wandering style, I changed my mind and am now heading for the Great Annihilator. I was planning to make some serious distance today, but got side-tracked by scenery, both icy planetside scenery with deep canyons to fly in, and the more traditional kind of scenery seen here:

I did not find any ELWs, or even Water Worlds today, but several cute swirly Gas Giants, and many tiny, shiny Ice Balls with excellent canyons and crags.. and a single Terraformable HMC. :)
Also, I have not encountered any aliens, so they are apparently not interested in Hutton Mugs.

Forward and onwards forever and ever we go!...
I have now reached the point towards the core where space becomes beautiful beond reason.. all these blue stars.. the grandeour of the galaxy... the.. everything. This is where I belong.
Not only is the general stellar neighbourhoods surrounding you in here extra nice, cool systems with a dozen multi-coloured gas giants are more common here... oh how I love the red and the blue gas giants...

I'm back in my element!

Still heading towards the Great Annihilator, and even though I'm basically in the middle of the Highway to Sgr A* by now, I haven't seen a tag for 1000LYs... not even water worlds and Ammonia Worlds are tagged here... (not seen an ELW today)...

Here's a nice picture for tonight.

I love this thread. There's something about exploration commanders that take a ship they love into the black. Granted, some truly do love the AspX or the Anaconda but I love reading stories of Orca's, Clippers, Type 9's...etc. There's more to life than jump range :) Fly safe commander and keep up us posted!

Today has been a day of much beauty, passed by another o-stat, (this one was tagged!), and a few jumps later I ended up in a system with many nice ringend gas giants. One had a fairly big landable moon as well. Spent some time there looking at the scenery. Didn't find any conveniently placed Neutron Stars for boosted jumps today, though...

There was ammonia based life on the giant. But my rares-and-luxury laden ship has yet to attrackt any Alien Attention.. so whoever they are in those Jellyfish ships, it seems they might lack a taste for the finer things in life... :) .. well.. that or they aren't anywhere near here.. it is a big galaxy.

Looks like you're having a similar trip to mine. I've just been to the GA and compared to every other black hole I've been to it scared the cack out of me coming out of SC. I'm now heading straight to Sag A and am about 1,000 Ly away now. It's taken a while...I set off in July 2016, but a combination of RL and the fact I was doing actual exploring rather than travelling has meant it's taken a while. I'm hoping to run into someone as I've done the whole thing in Open...it'd be quite cool to meet someone there, but I'm not on Elite with enough regularity to organise something solid.

Colonia after that!

Good luck with the rest of your trip!

Yes.. it is nice out here, corewards... :)
I'm also in open, but still about 8kLYs from the Annihilator.
Today I've been making quite a bit of progress via the Neutron Superhighway, and I've scanned quite a few things... and I came very close to smashing my ship on a 2.2g Ice Ball... only my 6A thrusters saved my Orca, the "Livyatan Melvillei", from the same awful fate that befell the "Gin Palace" during the outbound leg of Distand Worlds... :)

Here's that big ice ball up close:

And here's a nice shot of one of those hellish lavaworlds:
