Hi all,
Having just invested in a new RTX 2080, I decided to go through the library and fire up some of these beautys (and yes, its buttery smooth at ultra everything + VR), and I realized why I don't spend more time in ED, despite how philosophically beautiful I find it.....
the TIME it takes to do UNINTERESTING things needs to be fixed. In the hour I spent in the game, it consisted of a good 10 minutes checking out new missions, and then 50 minutes traveling to mission destination, which mostly meant wait for launch sequence, SLOWLY leave station, then a reasonably acceptable boost to space and fly between planets... then EPIC amount of time to dock at a station, including the ridiculous slowdown to phase shift.
I get that its part of the whole 'sim' atmosphere, but whats dumb about it is it just prevented me from having TIME to do all kinds of other stuff, like stop and mine for a bit, or land on a planet and tool around a bit, nope - would have to dedicate another hour just to make that happen.
There are too many arbitrary barriers when it comes to this - for example, when initiating phase shift why do I have to slow down so much? Why not let it lock at any speed - if I am more skilled I can land at absurdly high speeds. Now you've just introduced a new element to the game.
Sorry to say, but I would dedicate 90+% of my game time to ED and I imagine any lingering complaints about *content* would disappear as finally everyone would actually get to experience CONTENT as opposed to the timesink of moving from A to B.
