Newcomer / Intro Time remaining?

So in the Info panel in the top right of my screen, I get a notifcation of the system I am in, the controlling faction, and a countdown timer (45:52 remaining or whatever). What's that timer all about, then? 'Remaining', till what?

Sounds like you have targeted a USS. That information is about the jurisdiction and persistence of that USS, so how long before it disappears.

Aha, yes - it appears when I target a USS. Makes sense now - thanks!

If you reach there before the counter reaches 0:00 you can stay there a while. But for Convoy Dispersal if you arrive with few minutes left you probably won't find anyone there.
