Timelapse of a solar max

Hi,

Thought I'd try something new in the latest DSS, and it worked out so good that I had to make it into its own separate video too.

I left the Oculus on the table recording 45 minutes of a star going through what seemed to be a solar max. Lots of coronal activity.

Then I sped it up to two minutes, just watch it. It's absolutely fascinating. More than that, it shows how much thought they've put into their game. The stellar forge is crazy! All the activity is in the same place, as if there's something brewing right under the surface right there. Not some random algorithm.

Enjoy:

(preferably watch on youtube in 720p)

p.s. you'll notice that the scene slowly moves left and right. I have NO idea how that happened. It's either some Oculus anti-screenburn tech or I've got some presence stowed away on my ship...

That's phenomenal! I hadn't appreciated that there was quite that much activity in the stars. Thanks for showing us all the results.

Beautiful, their work on stellar suface effects alone deserves its own award. It's one of the most beautiful visual effects I've ever seen in a game (and I'm always a sucker for water, smoke, fire and the like).

Well I can still click it so all good. Watching your vids is such inspiration. I think I should head up to the roof again while I'm still near the core and remake the video after learning from you

EDIT: (the video that comes out on friday that you don't know about yet that is)

EDIT2: I could actually cry watching some of your videos. Just imagining how you felt being as far as humanly possible from sol... It's capture so well in your videos. I want to do it. Although I don't think it will be a DSS
