Tips for Isla Pena?

So, I finally got a 5 star park on Isla Muerta and Isla Tacano. I'm ready to tackle Isla Pena...but I have to admit that I'm quite intimidated. Obviously, space is very limited, and twisters are an ever-present threat. Any tips?

The good news is you start with a few essential buildings and a decent enclosure. Build a monorail and cram a big-rating dino in that enclosure. A medium carnivore like a Metriacanthosaurus isn't a bad idea, or you could put in some more expensive herbivores like Ankys or hadrosaurs. However I suggest going back to Muerta and Tacano to farm for the new fossil sites and treasure and then go back to Pena to drop your dinos. Makes for a way better start than spamming Struthiomimus.

helpful tip

So Pena was a challenge but a helpful tip on what you need is open the park rating menu and see where you need to improve. Since its a small island to work with, the dinosaur variety is easy to satisfy. Just make sure they're well taken care off. What will usually drag you down from getting a five star park is guest satisfaction and overcrowding. So what I did was complete the missions first on all 5 islands, get all genomes complete for the dinosaurs and all the research done and out of the way, then delete the research stations, fossil centre, and expedition center as well since you wont need them anymore. then I would place one or two hotels in their place and then keep referring to what else guests need. Contracts will keep popping up and asking you to put those buildings you deleted back on but ignore them. Then after you get all the kinds of guests buildings in the park in, max out staff and keep the items in said buildings diverse and price them ten dollars above their expense so you can still make money from them but also keep guests happy. Also try to fit a monorail along side the park, it'll help a lot with guest rating. Do all this and all your parks should be able to be high rating and potentially high star. Hope this all helps. :)

Sounds like I'm the only one not to build a monorail on Pena ;) I did complete Sorna first, used the large power stations. Had 3 paddocks (2 with carnivores with lots of mods & variety, 1 with large herbi). Two paddocks near each other (the original and one opposite) and the area between for hotels / food / shops.

Watch out because I found a lot of the ground wouldn't let me build water, so that was a limitation.

I already completed the genomes of all the Pena dinosaurs (minus the ones you unlock, such as Kentrosaurus, Suchomimus, etc.). My main problem is I don't have room to build more than one hotel.

I've been having trouble with getting variety up on Pena, actually. What combos for carnivores in the same enclosure do you recommend?

Usual Large + Small - one of (Rex / Metri / Cerato) + several of (Raptors or Deinonychus or I think Dilophosaurus)

Haven't played around much with Spino / Gigant so not sure if they follow the same rules.

Oh, so they'll still be fighting and eating each other? I'm not a big fan of doing that, at least when they fight to the death. Carnivores are expensive. :(

They don't fight. The rex will bellow at the raptors, then they run away. In fact I think they distract each other from escape attempts, as they don't get bored :)

I think i can tell you one thing not to do, i built a research lab and went to another island to grind everything, came back and restarted the island. First thing i did was sell a bunch of excess fossils, then i bred an Indominus Rex as the first dino (the guy did say he recommended big ticket dinos ...) . Because the starter pen is a bit small for her though, her food of choice so far is park visitors, even after i expanded the one end of the paddock.

Indominus will always go rampage. Better to have a spino with high rating from genes and battles.

The one i have on Tacano hasn't given me any issues at all, have her in a fairly large paddock with six raptors and a gyrosphere ride

Triceratops work well at the start. They're cheap compared to a lot of others low maintenance and can be incubated quickly. Add a few other Ceratopsians when possible and you have a decent exhibit that will carry you through the early stages

Phew. I just five starred Isla Pena. Thanks, everyone. It wasn't too difficult, per se; it just requires careful planning and a lot of patience.

By the way, my advice: Save often. And save every time you get a storm warning. That way, if you get a twister, just reload your file. I tried that and, as soon as I reloaded, I only got a heavy rainstorm, but no twister.

Sounds like cheating to me ;) Most fun i had so far in the game was on Pena when my first few dinos got ill, no money left, no research center, no ranger station and the disease not researched yet. The moment i had the research center up and running then (while the disease already spreaded to all dinos and i struggled shooting them with the ranger to keep them alive) a twister hit my power plant. By the time i had it up and running two dinos where dead and the rest of them wandered around scaring some visitors around. Had to sell research center and a couple smaller buildings to be able to build the ACU, i where down to -500k until everything was under control again. Only three dinos left alive, but income somewhen became positive again and i could slowly rebuild

Not a tip but I think I am going to make things easy myself and just progress along the rest of the chain when I unlock the next island. I really only stayed on Muerta so long cause I wanted to unlock Nublar.

Just had the worst luck on this *profanity buzzer* island was inches from getting the next island unlocked, till a storm decided to show up take out my power and fences. My rex broke out and started to feed on all my herbivores till my Triceratops went "hold my beer" and actually killed rexy! Even if with the upgrades my ACU still can't hit a barn door......*deep breath* xbox nearly went out the window haha...I'm going for a cigarette.

Don't want to spoil things for others by putting too much detail in my tip, but basically I 5 starred Pena with a 1x highly modified big carnivore that gained infamy and 2x herbivore enclosures. One small enclosure for a certain species that doesn't like a lot of others and one huge one that I gradually filled up with a good variety. Facility wise I had one big area with a couple of hotels and other amenities for the guests, with a smaller separate area for power and another for utilities ;)

5 staring Pena was indeed quite easier then i expected it. A couple big herbivores in the starting area, mirrored that enclosure on the other side with an Indominus, built monorail early on, a few food & fun buildings between both. In the center of the map a shopping center and finally near the center one more enclosure with a lot different small/medium sized herbivores. Didn't even notice when i got the 5th star and still plenty of free space to expand a bit.

Build a hatchery pen and transport all the dinosaurs to their enclosures. Do not build a hatchery for each enclosure.
