Tips on how to increase rank post 1.3 [Direct from FD Support]

If needing to turn in to an empire owned station, then my 11 million credits turned in to Maausk won't help, but then what about my 25+ million credits turned in at Dakshandi event? It is an empire owned station.

From what the support ticket response reads, yes, it should contribute as points towards your next gain. However, bare in mind that the gains are substantially slower than the gains prior to the 1.3 release. Moreover, it would help to acquire BB missions for the CZ zones, where and when available, as well as pirate, civilian, traders, smuggler kill missions, respectively, to boost points. Take into further consideration, that does not mean that your speed will exponentially increase whereby the points gained will be significantly over points gained through accepting the collective of all missions on BB. Rather, the combat oriented missions, and actions taken in general, and for the benefit of the respective faction by redeeming those bonds/warrants in any major faction controlled station will increase your points towards gain more than performing trading or message runs.

At least, that is what I interpret from reading their post.

I do recall when I first started playing this game that I never performed missions, period. I really enjoyed Bounty Hunting, and I rose quickly through the Federation ranks simply by turning in bounties. However, once 1.3 was released, that progressoin slowed significantly as either the point gain reduced or was extended in between ranks. Either way, one thing is for sure in that FD needs to provide some type of rank progression meter so we know where we stand in between each rank and so we can also test what actions/inactions gain the highest reputation points to ascertain the most proficient route to rank progression.

Nice one! Thanks for sharing :)

I live to serve :)

Kidding, but for real, I am always happy to share what information I receive to help others who I know are experiencing the same issue. Thank you for the rep!

"The FD support ticket response clearly states military action. I would suggest re-reading, ...."

I read it multiple times. It specifies some types of combat but not others. Clear thinking past one's assumptions reveals, that there is way too much room for misinterpretation on the statements about this game mechanic.

Yesterday i wrote this:
......
and today i log in and first thing i see at the bulletin board, is an ascension mission.
hello? does it maybe require that i get at least one fraction point of each pilot rank? because the thing i didn't do for month until yesterday, was trading.

It's not as clear-cut as some seem to think, eh ?

I am combat elite with 420,000,000 credits earned in bounties and 50,000,000 credits earned by combat zones. Also 47,000,000 million in assination missions and I am only werrant officer in the federation.
By these states I should be admiral by now I wonder why not!!!!!!!!!!
There must be a bug!!!!!!!!

Actually, what the post reads is "military action". However, more specifically, it reads "turning in bounties". Additionally, part of that process further includes, redeeming bounties in Major Faction controlled stations. Supposing therefore that you redeem your bounties and or even bonds in non-faction major controlled stations, you may not receive the benefit of the reputation gain.

It all does make sense. After all, these are military ranks, not ranks for dropping off this item in that station or donating x money to y faction. Notwithstanding, the response also did indicate that the non-military type missions also do afford some small but measurable gains to rank.

I will also state that I noticed that one system may not offer the rank increase for the reputation being on a negative decline, and upon leaving that system to another system I noticed an immediate positive increase in reputation signified by the blue upwards arrow that ultimately lead to receiving a rank progression mission.

Surely, the response did not detail every single aspect of gaming that would net these rank progressions or increase, but it was quite clear that military type action performed for the benefit or gain of the major faction will net better results towards rank increase than non-military type engagements. Finally, that choosing those military type engagements on the bulletin board will afford a better rank increase towards rank progression than doing 100 trade missions.

That does not answer my question look at my bounties 420000000 all at federation systems that alone should have me at admiral but also 50000000 in combat bonds not military enough for you then 47000000 in assination missions.

18560 bounties
1600 kills in combat zones
More kills in assination missions

in the bullien boad there are Missions that have an "encirceld" star symbol. Are those the Missions that give you rank? Or what is that symbol supoosed to mean?

I dunno about the turning in vouchers raising your faction skill.

I've been grinding bounties in ALD Empire space and gotten to ~70% towards Elite. Turned in at least 3000 vouchers since starting the grind.

Currently ranked Marquis and still no ascension missions in sight. I've been donating cash to Empire factions every chance too.

If I do in fact reach Elite before getting another ascension mission that would mean you would have to earn at least enough bounties to go from Harmless all the way to Deadly before earning enough faction skill to advance. Since Elite requires about double the combat points it takes for Deadly. That doesn't seem right. Or maybe it's bugged for some players?

Same on federation territory, spent months doing nothing but intense bounty hunting (as in, I would not stop before getting at the least 5000k-4000k in bounties per session) and Mercenary work (again, would only stop after getting huge amounts in vouchers) never got a promotion opportunity
then moved to doing lots and lots of missions of every kind, and STILL did not get a promotion opportunity
made a forum post asking about it (after researching in general and getting lots of different explanations), and got linked here
next time I logged on I had a promotion mission waiting for me
I really wish there was a clearer explanation for this, because as it is now, I have no idea if I should still be doing tons of missions, or i it would be more effective to go back to bounty hunting non stop; really want to be at a good enough rank to get the federal corvette when it comes out.

It could just be that you did most of the bounties before the update? And combat zones don't count (for some odd reason) according to OP.

One that looks like this? That means that the faction giving the mission is allied with the federation.

I suspect that many of your CZ BB missions were for the independent faction. It isn't sufficient to do combat missions in Fed territory, you need to do Fed missions. And if you're not doing Fed missions, you need to do CZ for the Federation faction and turn them into a Fed controlled station.

In my experience Bounties and Combat Bonds have zero effect on rank. Only missions seem to count.

I'll give you that it seems you need far fewer Combat missions than Charity to rank up though.

i would say that trading and bounties might have an effect but it has nearly no effect compared to doing a mission.

what i've found out is that doing trading or bounties is not the way to gain ranks.

so everybody here who is complaining that they are nearly Elite in combat and can't rank up, have not understood the system.

it is mission based, do missions for the major factions.

i've leveled up from baron to marquis ever since the change to rep gain.

it just takes time, do missions from time to time, donate whenever you see one.

and the guys that are high ranked you will need anything from 200 missions to 500 missions to gain a rank depending on how high you are.

Combat Bond did the trick for me.

Thats happened in a community goal, when i had to hunt the empire dawn

After delivering 7 milion approx i get an ascension naval (empire) mission.
