Titan poking for the Unengineered

How do you get a lock on with the Nanite Torpedoes? The vents opened. Tried targeting with my Nanite Torpedoes which have there own Fire Group. But there is something about a lock on? I was so close. Darn! Is it ship controls Targeting select target ahead key?

Yes. Make sure you actually select the heat vent as a target. When you aim at the heat vent (or anything that can be targetted) you will see a white/grey diamond icon over it. Hit 'T' on your keyboard, or whatever you've set as the control for 'Target Ahead' (check your key bindings), and that will lock the target with its name, distance and white chevrons. Now you can fire at it. Do this for each vent in turn.

My DBX thanks you for it's new purpose in life.
Please note that the build you quoted is a DBS (Diamondback Scout), not a DBX (Diamondback Explorer). The DBX - while a great ship - is much slower than the DBS due to its weight, which will make it harder to escape after being hyperdicted/interdicted, and to reach the asteroid field after shooting the core.

With the DBS, you can even do a titan run without any engineering. It is a bit tricky, but doable. Build: https://edsy.org/s/u6Z8d

Any engineering you can apply (especially getting Dirty/Drag on the thrusters) will make it easier. Just keep an eye on the thermals: Dirty/Drag in particular will increase power consumption, thus increasing heat. You will need to apply Low Emissions/Thermal Spread to the power plant to counter that and keep the ship cool (for higher grades of Low Emissions you will also need to switch the 3A PP in my example build for a 4A). Having a cool ship is key to remain largely undected until you open fire.

Edit: Of course, if you have access to engineering, there are better options than a DBS...

Tried it 3 times, failed 3 times. Never contributed a sous to the CG so that's me out. I can ferry passengers out of Sol to my hearts content without losing anyone and without losing my ship so that'll do me.

Never bothered with Thargoid stuff before now, not sure why I tried this time. Could be the wine/brandy/wine etc.

I'll continue ferrying passengers but it's a shame that that doesn't contribute to the CG. I'm far too old to do combat stuff (stuff is a placeholder for what I really mean).

For those that are are having fun; good on yer. That is what a game is supposed to be about.

How far did you get? What went wrong?

Ahhhhhhh. Finished rebuilding Nineteen Bucks as a mining ship. G3 engineering is all I can afford, since my clean save depleted everything, and I had to start over last month. Now, I can mine for much needed materials. The maxed engine, power plant, and distributor are perfect for mining, and the military grade hull will bounce a lot of pirate annoyance. Selling off the hull and module reinforcements helped the rebuy. The AX stuff goes into storage, in case I should ever lose my mind again.

During my runs, I was pushing keys so furiously that I knocked the keyboard off it's stand... my muscles got sore as well. Being old sucks. A hot shower helped.

I've taken my meds, and feel much better about it all. I'm sure y'all are up to the task. :)

If you want to sit in my ship for ax combat, just friend me in game (CMDR zeta) and send a direct message. I'll login sometime Sunday usa east coast.

Where did you fail? The caustic cloud or after?

Wanted to try to see if my XBox transfer CMDR (with zero engineering unlocked or even mats accrued [apart from a very few data]) would be able to make a contribution so I put together a Krait MkII ( https://s.orbis.zone/qHlc ) - and managed it on the third attempt. :D

Tried again with another altCMDR - this time in an unengineered iCourier ( https://s.orbis.zone/qHmE ) - and managed it on the second attempt (just).

OK. I got tired of trying to build a ship.

I bought the Rescue Python. Happy Holidays, Frontier.

It's 0210 CST. Maybe I should sleep.
Same, thx for the tip. I managed to get some damage on the Titan after some module swap. I already had deep core mining python but there is not enough python in my life. Happy Xmas Frontier.

Nice work, Robert. (y)

We have confirmation from a few players now that both physical multicrew and normal telepresence multicrew actually works for contribution to the Community Goal.
It seems to be harder to actually get a few shots in, but it works!
Also, for some reason the gunner has control over the torpedoes too which can't be changed. So far I didn't hear about anyone who was able to at least.

Some friends and I tried multicrew last night; the reason the gunner probably has the torpedo and can't change it, is the recommended builds are all using missiles in the other slots, and not being turreted or gimballed, gunnars cant use those anyway. Has to be aimable weapons. They could however use utilities when they realised they'd inherited my fire groups and swapped between them.

Targetting the torpedoes indeed proved tricky, due to a combination of lag and not being able to predict where the pilot was flying as easily as their own flight.
