To make ship transfer costs scale off ship insurance.

Given how expensive ship transfer costs are, coupled with the 3 day mandatory wait time, I think a rebalance is overdue. Using Bubble -> Colonia as an example, you'll find transfer fees like 2.3m to transfer a Sidewinder, 636m to transfer a Corvette and nearly 1 billion for a Cutter. Not only are those costs a bit insulting to my time investment to gather those credits, they don't exactly fit in with the economy and current mission rewards. As why can't commanders, highly prestigious pilots, accept missions to transport other peoples (AI) ships to other stations too? What deems us ineligible? Even if we could, I don't think 1 billion credits would be a realistic reward to simply jump for a few hours. Do you?

I propose a rebalance of ship transfer fees to bring them to a reasonable level, since we already have the 3 day wait period which only subtracts from the user experience, and use ship insurance as a primary factor. It would make a max-cost transfer of a (stock) Corvette ~9.4m cr, a Sidewinder @ 1,600cr and a Cutter @ 10.4m cr. These costs rise with upgrades. To me 10.4 million (+immersion fee) is more reasonable than 1 billion (+immersion fee). As much as I'd love to see faster transfers I think that's a discussion for another time. Right now, it's just the transfer price I see that needs balancing.

Please tear into this, those who disagree with anything I've said.
Please share your support, those who agree with this notion.
Fly safe.

+++1 to this ship transfer fees are outrageous and one of the main things that's discouraged me from going to colonia that much.

This one is a bit late...more than a week since we had a request to reduce ship transfer costs.

One of the good things about ship transfer cost is exactly the point brought up, it emphasis the distance and isolation of Colonia as a remote outpost. I'm not going through the myriad other discussion points brought up on the myriad other threads complaining about transfer costs, you will need to read those yourself, repeating everything here would be.....silly.

Well, starting a new account and finding how easy it is to earn 1 billion I think the amount is fine. We do need some risk in the game. If there no money sink than the game not worth playing.

With all the effort of taking a picture and typing your post. You could have saved time and posted on the last topic that talks about this.

Plenty of other credit sinks in the game to take its place. This isn't a big issue for me but the costs are stupid high. Though the only way I'd really be affected is if the goids set the bubble ablaze and then I gotta try to move 30 ships to colonia. Hopefully that never happens lol

When you have billions of credits. Losing a few million from a destroyed ship seems minor. Even losing 1 billion for ship transfer is minor.

Alright mr money bags whatever you say though I doubt most people can afford to toss billions around like its chump change.

So they made colonia but dont want us spending much time over there lol

Colonia is intended for a certain type of player and play style, just as CZ's and CG's are intended for different types of players and player styles. I have never been into a CZ, do I come on to the forum and complain about them being inaccesible to my play style due to the ludicrous engineering requriements requried to do well in them? No I don't. Colonia is a remote outpost, pushing the boundries of civilisation, not a bus trip to the corner shop, although that does appear how some people want it to be. All these discussions and points have been put forward many times, go back and read the endless threads about transfer costs instead of making us repeat everything that has ever been posted about it....again!

Calm down now no reason to get so fussy and I never said it was inaccessible just that itd be ridiculously expensive to transfer anything there. If these points have been fleshed out enough times according to you then you have a pretty simple option here....dont read these threads or bother to comment on them then if all you wanna do is bite people's head off.

My g5 vette can own the field in a CZ and while itd take longer then my exploraconda it could still get to colonia with a full combat loadout as long as I have a GFSDB and a scoop equipped. And ftr since you appear to be confused about this I didn't start this thread and dont have the time or desire to dig through old threads like you advise. I simply voiced my support to the OP because I agree with him.

+1 for giving us ship ferrying jobs - would love to try out someone else’s loadout for a few thousand LY, with some side missions along the way. It would be cool if actual player ship transfer requests generated these missions, even if success or failure have nothing to do with the actual delivery of the ship to the requesting player.

But there are a ton of reasons why long-distance ship transfer should cost a ton of cash. For one, unless the temp pilot wants to get where you are, there would be fees to pay that pilot both directions. Two, most long-distance transfers involve ships that aren’t set up for quickly traversing those distances, otherwise you’d have brought it yourself - so either you’re paying for a specialist to take the slow road or you’e paying for some temp refits to make the trip faster, like a pricey fuel scoop or engineered FSD. And if independent pilots are flying them, part of the fees have to be for insurance and paying off any fines and bounties on your ship incurred on the way.

And that’s all assuming that what you’re paying for is a pilot to shuttle your ship; since that sort of mission *isn’t* available to us, maybe this is accomplished instead by loading your ship onto a bulk hauler mega ship making very occasional trips to the station in question, and you’re competing on price with everyone else at your remote location for that scarce cargo space. Sounds like it might be fairly expensive.

Think of it this way - you can drive your way across a continent by yourself, and take your car with you. If you had left another car back at home, you’d probably be able to pay someone to drive it to wherever you drove, if the end destination is a major city or has reasonable connections to transport. But it breaks down as soon as you go remote with specialized vehicles - if you drive your ice road truck to a remote community in Nunavut, it’s going to cost a lot more to get someone to bring your Tesla to you. And if you take your sailboat to Easter Island, you’re probably going to end up paying more than the list price of your average car to have yours delivered to you ready to drive.

All of my ships can make it over I was speaking to if I wanted to move my whole fleet there and setup shop. As it is it's cheaper to just build a second fleet there. Though like I said originally this is not a major issue or something I'm going to hang my hat on I just agree with the OP that the prices are too high.

It would be cool to have hauling missions like you say though we can never have too much diversity with mission types.

The reason people get irritated is because this is the umptimillionth thread on reducing ship transfer costs and you know what one thing in common with each thread is? The starter of the threads can't be bothered spending any time at all going back and reading through the millions of posts already on the subject to see if he is offering anything new on the subject, the answer to that is, no you aren't, you are just repeating everything that has been said in every thread since ship transfer was introduced. <- and that's not the first time I have said that either!

Again I didn't start this thread so you have no business directing your anger at me. You seem like a very irritable and unhappy individual and for your own mental health I'd suggest ignoring things that trigger you like this. And I dont recall seeing the memo where you were given the authority to decide what can or cannot be discussed and dont see it in my inbox so that's news to me. I've only been playing for about 4mo too so it's not like I've been watching this topic come up constantly like you say it has.

Another I want thread. I want the top ship, I want instant transfer, I want I want I want.
Time was we made a huge trade run of 300k a run. Now peeps cry it's not 3 mil or 30 mil a trade run.
MMOS I want it now syndrome. There is no end game. Play the game or be gone.
OH and have a nice day.

Lol well put and to be clear I'm not demanding for any changes just agree that with the OP that transfer fees are crazy high. But I dont transfer ships anyways I keep everything at shinrarta and all my ships have the fsd range to jump anywhere I need em to go. There's nothing really that I can think of wanting or that I think has to be changed I enjoy the game as is just fine. Have every ship in the game besides the imperial ships and I have several ways to make 100mil a hour so I'm doing good and have no complaints. Doesnt mean we can't discuss things though or we might as well not have these forums.

I'm not in favor of any reduction in transfer cost or time, at least not without a radical overhaul in the game's economy.

Insurance cost is far too low, IMO.

Even if we could, I don't think 1 billion credits would be a realistic reward to simply jump for a few hours. Do you?

I think current transport costs would be far too low of an incentive for most CMDRs to do such work. Without a heavily jump-range slanted loadout, transferring most ships to Colonia would take way more time than generating more credits via other means.

A billion cr is an afternoon of mining.

So they made colonia but dont want us spending much time over there lol

You can spend as long as you want over there. Ship transfers aren't mandatory in order to experience Colonia at all.

I know and that's why I'm starting to build a fleet there but I need to unlock the colonia engineers before I can really get going and I'm fine with that since i have nothing left to do in the bubble. I was speaking to varonica's apparent insinuation that colonias not meant to be played in very much. Things are fine as is it's just always seemed crazy that ship transfers can outweigh the ships value and all I was doing was agreeing with the OP on that point. I have no opinion on insurance costs I've only had one rebuy and that was in a cobra when I first started.

And now that I think about why would anybody care what somebody has to pay to get their ship back? Only reason I can think of is a ganker that wants their victims to feel even more pain though that's purely a assumption. I'm in pve so maybe there are things in open that make it come into play more and I just dont know about them yet. But it's pretty easy not to die in pve so it's never been something that I've put much thought into.

Ship transfer fees are fine for what they were primarily made for: Moving ships around the bubble. The more aggravating point is the wait to do it. So unless I have something to do at the destination in another ship, I'm rather flying myself. The two cases where I use ship transfer are 1.) CGs requiring two ships present, typically a combat ship and a freighter/miner and 2.) new ship purchases, where I go with my bubble taxi to where I want to buy the new ship, then while outfitting and engineering that ship having my taxi shipped back home.

As for Colonia, this is almost 1/3 the diameter of the galaxy away. This rightfully should cost a lot or take a lot of playtime. I can't afford the 6 billion a transfer of my fleet would cost. I'm 3.3 billion short, and then there's still the minimum rebuy buffer to take into account. But I'm able to move everything to the clostest of the 3 stations in between. Should the bubble burn for good, this is the course of action I'm going to take.

In the meantime, when I have business in Colonia, I take one of my long range ships there and if need be buy another ship locally that is suited for the task I want to accomplish. Afterwards I sell that ship again and hike it back home. The 10% loss on ship sale are easily being covered by exploration profits from on the way.
