it doesn't matter how old it is, it was said by the Lead Designer of Elite and there was no other statement that something had changed.how old is this "combat logging" update ?
any info of the incentives to counter this issue ?
The same Lead Designer who said that menu exit, at any time, is permissible - and acknowledged that not all players would agree.it doesn't matter how old it is, it was said by the Lead Designer of Elite and there was no other statement that something had changed.
I'm talking about a task kill (Alt+F4) which is used by the vast majority of combat loggers, not about 15 secs menu log (which is recognized by the frontier as legit and not bannable, but also disliked by most players and squadrons)The same Lead Designer who said that menu exit, at any time, is permissible - and acknowledged that not all players would agree.
He also advised a player, just before launch, to use the block feature when the player complained about serial interdiction by a player while playing in Open.
You wouldn't ever know what kind of logout I'd use on you.I'm talking about a task kill (Alt+F4) which is used by the vast majority of combat loggers, not about 15 secs menu log
Ah - the two are often conflated in discussion.I'm talking about a task kill (Alt+F4) which is used by the vast majority of combat loggers, not about 15 secs menu log (which is recognized by the frontier as legit and not bannable, but also disliked by most players and squadrons)
yes, with alt+f4 the ship stops taking damage and disappearsYou wouldn't ever know what kind of logout I'd use on you.
Indeed - however the reason for the loss of connection is not known (although it is likely assumed).yes, with alt+f4 the ship stops taking damage and disappears
with 15 menu log it takes damage all the time until dissapears
As is the nature of Peer to Peer - You know the connection is down, you cannot find out why the connection is down.Indeed - however the reason for the loss of connection is not known (although it is likely assumed).
if you want you can ask but also you can test him without any word. if player survive your attacks then he's not newbee if he not survive then in mostly cases he is newbee.So.. should I ask before any interaction if he can survive most game situations? whether to test it and see what happens? if it survives he wasn't newbee, and if his ship go boom he was?
A player stops to be a newbee when he flies off the starting systems, because there is no way for you to check his stats. Even a mostly harmless sidewinder can be elite in trading and exploration and have billions in his account. You don't know that.
I never said it's okay to do that. And no, you can't discern the reason for a disconnect:You do know why. You're just pretending that cheating is OK provided you can come up with a plausible excuse. It's not. It's cheating.
If this happens to same player 3 times and he loses connection at the same hull rate you can be sure it is not an accidental disconnection.Indeed - however the reason for the loss of connection is not known (although it is likely assumed).
Or a frail 4G connection. Or unstable ADSL. Or whichever wireless or fixed internet access is used.If this happens to same player 3 times and he loses connection at the same hull rate you can be sure it is not an accidental disconnection.
It may well indicate something other than accidental disconnection, yes.If this happens to same player 3 times and he loses connection at the same hull rate you can be sure it is not an accidental disconnection.
