PvP To the Low Life who Killed my Unarmed and Unladen Hauler Today

I have one of those, an Isaberg Rapid 27. They work well when new but the sliding spring clamp is injection moulded plastic & wears out. I prefer the simpler pressings of a sco model 535.

What?
It's clearly a Swingline.

Do you always just make up stuff?

Why? Shield off = less power = less heat = better scooping.

Shield on = shielded = less explody = saves millions.

Better?

I was stuck on the save millions part and think I was reading the post wrong. /Shrug. It never occurred to me (or I never found I needed to) turn shields off to improve scooping. What does that do, save me a few seconds?

But only you are arguing a point so petty :D

I am not arguing, I am correcting you.
You should be thankful.

You are posting just as much as I am, but I have the facts on my side.
So, who is really making petty arguments?

I say it's you.
Why do you keep posting?
That's supposed to be ok for you, the person making up stuff, but not me, the one correcting your misinformation?
Hahaha, ok, riiiight.

There is a larger Elite Dangerous parallel here that is really funny:
Arguing from ignorance.

Arguing from ignorance.

You have questioned my authority on office supplies, I am compelled to reply :)

You are indeed arguing from arrogance, you have taken my light hearted ice breaker & exposed it's flaws in an aggressive & condescending way. That you continue to do so is making a mockery of this thread and yourself. Which of us does this favour I wonder? ;) I have no standing within this community, I have no reputation for petty bickering to worry about.

Do you know why the stapler was painted red in the film?

Theres always Fleetcomms for exploration, so if you still want to still see people that wont automatically kill you on sight for 'fun' then you could try flying in there

As regards dropping exploration data, open is pretty safe as long as you dont end up in popular places. If you want to drop into a popular place to drop off data then leave an armed ship somewhere safe on the edge of the bubble, pick it up first then go to your destination.

I dont condone the guys actions but at the same time you should be able to see when someone is lining up to interdict you and drop into normal space, or you can fly something that isnt gonna get killed instantly. Its about flying smart, not forgetting that you arent in uncharted space

Is this a joke thread?

Seriously, how can you whine when you had the option to play in total safety? You chose some risk, so good on you there, but take it like a grown-up, purleease!

Hence your choice of (effectively) a shieldless hauler gets you extra bravery points from me...& your choice to fly it in Nanomam gets you extra stupidity points [big grin] I could understand a random HIP or LHS system to do this - where your chances of meeting anyone at all, let alone a griefer, are slim - but the headquarters of a power?! Really?! Were you going to swing by some engineers' systems, San Tu & the CG system after, if you'd survived all of the powers' HQ's?

Hahahahahahahahaha....I really hope this is a joke thread!

DD5 + Drag. 630mps or something stripped down.

Speed saves lives and re-buys. Had mine boosting 637 the other day. IIRC, Un1k0rn had one boosting 625. Both have weapons/defenses equipped, so I wouldn't call them stripped down. Stripped down implies no weapons, shields, hrps, etc. I prefer calling it Mass Reduced For Unilateral Combat Operations at Velocity.

You're right, it may be a double-edged sword. But I somehow have to vent my anger due to 3 million CR lost exploration data.
Well, you can of course always fly in Solo unless you want to wing up. But is this the solution to an obviously still non-deterring C&P system? This guy will be able to pay off his 6000 or something credits of bounty after one hour in any Interstellar Factors bureau. How about interlinking the height of a bounty with the amount of the criminally destroyed assets?

And forget about escape strategies in a Hauler with a 2D shield generator.
Frustrating? Sure, if you let it get to you. Don't, because it's happened to most of us at least once. Accept that you're going to get shot. It's part of the game. The trick is to survive it. Refer to posts #14, #24, #31, #33. Good advice there. Use it. Un1k0rn has some "outside the box" builds, with a Cobra MK III. It can fight, in the hands of a skilled user. As a newer player, that should be a "next goal ship" for you. It's much faster than a hauler, good jump range, runs cool (important for silent running without a sink) and a low edge profile that can be more difficult to hit for fixed weapons users. Get engineers Farseer, The Dweller, Cheung and Palin unlocked asap. Those will get you better jump range, speed, better distributor, and shields. It'll take time though, so be patient. You'll be earning credits along the way, so don't sweat.

In the mean time, "if you just gotta go" to a high profile system like Nanomam, try times of the day when it's likely to be less crowded. Monday through Friday, there's a window of 2-3 hours between when US players go to bed for the night and UK players are still hitting their snooze button. That's around 12 am to 3 am EST or 4 am to 7 am GMT. I've often been through every capital, gone to every engineer, and a host of community goals, without seeing a single live CMDR during those hours. I'm not saying you won't ever see them, but there's less online.
