Thank you for bringing data. Every schmuck who ever took a business class likes to pretend Fdev is in peril. They are not. That paint job you buy is not saving the company despite what some people like to think.
nobody really says they are in peril, just that you can't sit back at any point and say 'we have done enough'. the biggest argument to put forward is this - Frontier are in the position they are in as a result of careful strategic planning within the overall organisation, and detailed micro management of the individual departments/titles.
to try and argue that the $5 ship skins are not important, to their success, is being naive. that is, in many ways, just another way of saying, they don't really 'need' micro transactions, they can't provide any kind of revenue stream, that benefits their top line, and form part of the reported profits/share growth.
tomorrows numbers are more relevant that yesterdays, and next weeks will be more relevant that that. you don't make gains or meet new target by doing nothing. and in a sales led environment what you are bringing in now, far outweighs what you brought in back then.
people really need to understand what is meant by.. cant or wont operate at a loss. that isn't a statement about the condition of a business, that is a simple statement about where a PLC does not want to be, and does not want to be in a position to have to react to.. its not simple and clear cut, but every penny being spent on the game, is a penny covered for their cost to run the game. that is all.
