It's a temporary arrangement. I was debating getting involved with Power Play while waiting for Horizons and I decided to pick a power and go with that. I've never been a staunch Federation or Imperial player. Indeed, I've ranked up a little with both. The one thing that swung it to the Federation from the Empire was that I have a bounty on my head for a "friendly fire misunderstanding" that I wasn't able to pay off in the Empire so I decided to go for the Federation instead.
Winters-controlled space was less than 100 LY away from where I was.
After I've played for a while, I may consider switching but we'll see.

I have been a smuggler signed up to Archon since about cycle 6, but I haven't really played for the last month or so. The black market nerfs haven't made me want to come back anytime soon but I will be Archon to the end. Death to the insidious Imperials!

Ever since I saw all those Powers were completely powerless and their leaders are nothing but dead 2D Images a.k.a. they never lead... Not pledged to anyone.
Some of their PowerPlay weapons look interesting, but I can't be bought into that. Not for Weapons. Not for Credits.
I have no bad business with neither the Federation, Alliance nor Empire. Hence, no reason to start a war with them just because of some benefits
Independent? Yes. Mercenary? No.
