Ships Today I Get My Vette!

After a long road of gradually ranking up I'm now 41% Post Captain, so the prize is now tantalizingly close.
Depending on how much playtime I get, I think I'll have one on my driveway by Friday or so. :)

I currently have 320 mils on my account and since I'm planning to park the Beluga for a while (afterall I was flying that thing a lot to get the reps), I'll be able to strip and save on some expensive modules.

The biggest issue I have is what role I should aim for. Since I only do PVE, I guess a pure combat oriented loadout is an overkill unless I want to go Thargoid hunting. So either multirole bubble dweller, or Thargoid hunter I guess.
It goes without saying, that I'm also planning major expeditions* with this ship whenever planets get updated in Q1. :)

*I've taken an FDL to Beagle Point, so I'm not afraid of the jump range. :)

Mine is configured as my Python's Big Brother. :)

I run missions, take cargo, and even go to Dav's once in a while. I'm sure most 'vette owners don't do haz res or CNB bounty hunting with cargo containers and a SRV in the hold, but that's how I roll. This configuration suits me as I don't have access to all of the engineers so I can't build a true 'combat only' vette anyway.

I too am planning some time away from the bubble once the planets get updated. I just can't make up my mind on which ship I am going to do it in. I'm down to either the vette or the Python as I am currently doing a passenger sightseeing mission in a conda I bought/built just for this mission and absolutely hate this pig. I will be selling it as soon as I get back home.

And I don't think I'm up for Beagle Point in my FDL... ;)

Well, I think the Vette is exactly what you describe, it can be used as a multipurpose vessel with proper teeth. If it has less power distribution issues than the Anaconda, then it must be one hell of a ride.
Again, I wonder why anyone would build a combat only Vette apart of taking on the Thargoids, as I can properly keep up in virtually all extended PVE combat situations in a Gunship as well. Especially as -apparently- the Vette is not a good PvP ship.

As for exploration, almost all ships can be used as an explorer as that is pretty much the activity in which your affection towards the ships the single most important factor. You must be best buddies for a long time, so to me the FDL is a better exploration ship than an Asp. :)

Edit: I love when I'm greeted by 12 donation missions, which just boosted my progress by 5%. :)

No 'power distribution' issues I am aware of. I don't have access to all of the engineers, so I tell folks mine is modestly engineered. :)

I kill anything that interdicts me when running missions/cargo, and can sit in a haz res or CNB until I get brain-fried.

All class A modules except sensors and life support.

G3 overcharged on the power plant, and G5 charge enhanced on the distributor.

G5 long range FSD which gives me a 20Ly jump range as currently configured.

G5 DDs give me about 260 m/s full speed, about 350 m/s boost.

7A shields, with G5 resistance augment, plus a bunch of shield boosters with various G3 engineering to get me over 2500Mj of shields with decent resists for thermal and explosive.

7A fuel scoop of course. :)

Two huge gimbaled beams up top, G5 efficient. All other hardpoints are turreted burst lasers, all G5 long range. (I also have two huge MCs, overcharged w/autoloader when I want something different)

The burst lasers do a pretty good job of smoking the smaller stuff, and I use the huge beams on the medium and large stuff to melt shields and turn them to dust. Honestly, I really don't need turrets on the vette, but with them I can have a more relaxed time in a CNB or haz res which allows me to stay longer and make more credits.

I really, really like driving the vette. I like the way it handles in SC and normal space, and with a 7A fuel scoop I run all over the bubble with it. Who knows? I may have to consider taking it out for an extended sightseeing mission once we get the new planets. We'll see.

Have fun with your vette when you get it! :D
