THIS. My Clipper is my favorite ship, and she's woefully plain compared to the rest of my fleet.

Moar Clipper things plz?

The only appropriate paint colour for a Clipper is stock or Tactical Ice imo. And I hope they dont do ship kits for the Clipper. The Cutter kits were bad enough. It's like thinking that super-gluing old cardboard toilet tubes to Katheryn Winnick's face is an improvement - it's not.

Ship kits no.

Paint jobs yes please.

This game is riddled with bugs & janky game mechanics and Fdev keeps releasing pay-for cosmetics!? I'm not spending a dime until everything is back in working order!

You don't pay the plumber if there's water shooting out of your sink and he's fixed nothing. And now the plumber would like to ask if you'd like purchase hot pink pipes to go under the sinks for an added price.

Why would you pay for more crap you don't need when there's dozens of bugs for them to resolve? For some reason I think Fdev is making ship skins and said to hell with the bugs and janky mechanics.

They work on this game all the time, 3.0 is out, and free... Do you work for free? I sure as hell don't. If they can operate ED on the income of the store selling paints and ship kits, then let em.

My issue isn't with the cost of the paint jobs, it's what they provide. I can honestly see six or seven ships that would serve as my primary fleet. If they sold Universal paint jobs that could be applied to all ships, I'd likely buy three or four of them because I know that no matter what ship I use, I could paint them if I wanted to. The way it stands now? I won't buy more than the one paint job set, because I know it only applies to my AspX, and the minute I switch to another ship. it becomes useless. Which would pay more bills, a customer who pays $4.00 for one unit, or a customer who pays $16.00 for four units? That's all I'm saying. I'll support the store with more purchases when I get what I feel is my money's worth.

It's not about fame. It's about how many people fly the ship regularly so it pays off to come up with a paintjob. That's why my favourite ships like Keelback and Viper MkIV will never receive a proper love from FD.

Have hope! I also can't help but wonder if getting things like a ship kit ends up resulting in more people using a ship, too. Like the Cobra III, for example. Everyone uses a Cobra III at some point, but then move on. But when the kits came out, I wonder how many bought it and then went back to it again for a while. I know I did. Back in the Keelback again, but that's just the way of it ;)

Yeah, I don't know. I can understand why people don't like AspS, for example (although that is also one of the ships I am quite fond of) but Keelback... The poor girl simply drew a short straw and completely undeservedly. She's a really decent ship, even fanboyism aside. But very few people are using her.
I am not sure Fdev would take the risk of putting the effort into making a ship kit for her and just hope it'll lure people in. Painjobs maybe, but I think they will go for a ship kit ONLY on ships they know a lot of people fly.

JUST noticed this: they sell a corroded paint pack for the Python. Can't you just not get your paint repaired and achieve the same look for free? Plus LOL @ they're charging you for a paint job that makes the ship look like garbage.

I think the corroded paint jobs are part of the spiky body kits.
I fly a T9, nothing wrong with looking like garbage!:D

I have the spikes on my cutter.... Love the feeling of flying into a Imp location with the feeling that they think I bought the think from a scrap heap.

It does make the ship look mean... And I like the community goal comments. With red engines you feel like your rolling a ship about to explode

Bought a Cutter the other day (finally) and it continues to grow on me.
Bought the predator skin pack to go with it. I like the teal.
win/win for me and three dollars for FD.

You are not alone. Much of the game remains broken/unbalanced, fixes and new game content are glacially slow to appear but new microtransactions roll out of the FDev store like clockwork.

That being said, at least FDev is not selling pictures of ships for $200 and up . . . o7

My Cutter is Gold. It's staying that way.
If I ever get around to buying and outfitting and.. ugh.. Engineering a second one, it will be the color it comes from the manufacturer.

I happen to like the default color scheme, but I did have to pick up a Gold for it because it's so obnoxious.

That said, I don't take my Cutter out very often. I'm not terribly keen on how it handles. I find the Type-9 more fun to fly.

do they roll the patterns and names random? because when reading "predator" pack in the link, there was a lot in my mind, but surely nothing remotely close to those fancy colors.

Sadly it doesn’t work that way. The corroded look gives you that “you came here in that thing? You’re braver than I thought” sort of look. Whereas not paying for paint repair give you more of a “why the hell did someone paint a DeLoean?” Look. The hull under the paint is more like brushed aluminum.

For a truly weird look, let the corroded paint job peel and enjoy the nice clean brushed aluminum poking out from under the fake rust.

😄
