I like how "planetary landings" consist of asteroids and no atmosphere planets. Reason, they dont have the resources to do it any other way. Cant make a new flight system for atmospheric flight. Cant do true procedural generation. And its not due to a lack of skill, but a lack of funding. Well, you fanboys wanted it so bad, here it is. Enjoy a half baked expansion whil bugs a year old still persist and the universe is bland and barren. ED had one chance to weather the two incoming hurricanes of SC and NMS, and that was to fit a niche and not tryin g to compete. I loved ED untill I ran out of things to do. Props to Braben and co for making a fun game. But now i must mourn the dangerous.

I don't think it's incompetence, so much as laziness and greed.

Why sell planetary landings on all planets in one expansion when you can sell barren moons in one, and the rest in at least one more?

The way i see it is it's a simplified tester. Roll out the basics, see what works and what doesn't and then apply to the other planets.

Populated Earth Worlds will be a massive undertaking money or not. It's going to take a lot of work to make it look and feel right. It's not a five minute job and i wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see it for another year or two.

Yep... absolutely correct. That's why they said they would do it exactly this way over a year ago because they knew they couldn't do it then when they promised it... actually wait a minute that doesn't really make sense... you know... maybe, just maybe you're wrong!

I'm pretty sure there are still at least two chances left before hurricane SC. As for NMS it's not a hurricane, like at all.

Also, you're talking like you actually know what horizon will add to the game. But you don't.

Can't wait for NMS and SC to arrive.
:
Right now ED is in the impossible position of being a released (and in progress) game, but having to compete against the potential and hype of two unreleased games.
:
Yeah if SC or NMS live up to their potential then they're going to blow ED out of the water.
:
If SC is as good as Chris Roberts says it will be, then ED is in serious trouble.
:
If NMS can pull some game play out to match the undeniably pretty psychedelic visuals, ED will struggle.
:
There's no way of knowing how good these games are going to be until release. They might fail hard and ED will look great by comparison.
:
Until then ED is a reality competing with a dream, and the dreams will always look better.

It could be worse, they could be giving us Space Legs instead of Wheels and a gameplay similar to Rust/Ark/Starbound, I'm glad they're choosing a different path for now.

QFT!!!!!!!!

Worrying about Elite because of SC is like worrying about Call of Duty because of Battlefield. Both will co-exist just fine. NMS, the last gameplay video for that really made me stone cold on it, I'm more looking forward to Enemy Starfighter, as that at least feels imminent-ish.

If anyone's actually booted up Star Citizen to check how that plays recently then they know E: D is in a damn good place.

So much this - competing against dreams which has perfect price points, perfect shedule and perfect feature set is impossible. Good think FD doesn't try to do that directly. They just deliver.

I already feel bad of CIG when SC 1.0 will drop - there will be outrage, most of it unjustified, because people didnt read small print.

The game is great and I have lots to do in it.

The talk about all these bug confuses me as I do not see any. Perhaps because I do not play wings or powerplay I do not see these bugs that people talk about ?

This is very true.

The content that's been in the game hasn't been added to but only limited to stretch out play times to grind-fest levels. The most recent, and annoying of which, is the limitation of combat missions to combat rank (or how much you've farmed in credit count) and then that rank is limited again by the spawn limitation on RES Sites. It's just maddening. There isn't enough content to even warrant the $40 that the game initially costs. Are you seriously saying that this season's big expansion was the most basic form of multiplayer interaction? That's a joke. Don't try to tell me that "I just haven't experienced the universe enough" when I'm sitting in a 250 mil credit python, there just isn't any content and I'm livid that I'll have to pay even more for for a dune-buggy upgrade simulator so I can wonder around entire planets of sand.
