Too hard to read text with the Oculus Rift DK2

I asked this in another thread, but it was a bit off-topic there...

Could it somehow be possible to add a sorta screen-protector to the screen inside the rift... to add a very small amount of blur to the screen?

If the pixels were blurred a tiny bit, juuuust enough that it extended over the lines between the pixels... would that help with fix the screen door effect?

Also, could such a blur help with the chromatic aberration that I've seen in pictures by merging (via blur) the colours in the PenTile matrix, thus creating a more "merged" version of the RGB that the matrix outputs, prior to it being squirted through the magnifier?

Lots of threads out there on this where they remove 13 screws and a rubber screen holder then apply a good Matte screen protector. I have not seen anyone say it made that big of a difference where I am taking mine apart. Just google search screen protector on Oculus DK2 screen and you will see lot on that topis

I tried Elite: Dangerous yesterday for the first time, as I have just gotten my Oculus Rift DK2. Those two definitely go hand in hand. :) But while the game itself is great with the DK2, I find it very hard to read the menus in the cockpit. I've only used the tutorials, though, and only up to the Travel-tutorial. Still trying to figure out how to finish it.

I play the game with pre-set High or Medium, but neither works. Or they both work, technically, but I can't read the text in either of them in the cockpit. I can read the text in the main menu and loadscreens, though.

That is a flaw with the current Rift. Not a whole lot you can do about it.

Actually, it is not a flaw of the current Rift. Yes, its resolution is not 4k or 8k yet, but it would be enough to display readable text. The cockpit and UI elements with text should just look differently on Rift than on plain monitor. It could be improved in ED itself. See Minecrift as a good example, which has good configuration options to allow the user to fine-tune the menu and text size. I know that it is not that trivial with a cockpit, but ED developers could show some love to the DK2 users and at least try to add some hack for this. Just my 2 cents...
