Credits make sense to me. Materials that are completely separate and not exchangeable with credits makes way less sense (especially those common materials like iron and zinc). And now we have Arx, which is something we earn in the game, yet it's completely unrelated to either credits or materials. It's this weird ethereal stuff that's not connected to anything in any sort of specific or Lore-friendly way, yet it is earned by actual gameplay and purchases actual "stuff" that changes how our ships looks.
On PS4, the "Frontier Points" always felt like a very separate thing from the game. The new Arx is now integrated into the game, and at the risk of triggering someone, it kinda breaks my immersion. It really does make ED feel a bit more like Fortnite or Paladins, and I don't think I like it. Now if cosmetics and Arx were managed from the main menu instead of inside the game itself, I think it would feel very different. I guess I just have to train myself to ignore it like I have with the whole "material as currency" system that came before.
