Top 10 must have animals for PZ

Recently we got the highly requested aquatic pack which has been amazing btw and well worth the wait plus a nice turtle in game now. The list I made out is based on requests, popularity, and are must haves for the game imo. We all want aviary content both animals and building components but the animals I’ve listed are simply habitat animals. Of course you can agree or disagree with the animals on this list. Well here it is in no particular order.
1) Meerkat
BD596C01-AAB7-46A5-9F7E-7F90436ED9C2.jpeg
Absolutely necessary and highly requested. Great entertaining little social animals and very popular in zoos.
2) Small cat species
F36E24BD-B324-4A77-A3C0-F9EF68DED415.jpeg

This is a Eurasian lynx. But any small cat is welcome and there’s many to choose from so whether it’s serval,Caracal, bobcat, ect, any are welcome.
3) Cougar

I have witnessed these guys in every zoo I’ve been to. Beautiful and very popular and a welcome addition to PZ.
4) Emu
8E79B845-9A36-4CD5-BED5-2A41B29A23EC.jpeg

Truthfully at first I didn’t mind these guys not making the Australian pack but the more I look at images of them I can see why so many were disappointed. Maybe not the most popular zoo animals but a necessary addition imo nonetheless.
5) Moose
7303BD40-CF7B-44FE-86AC-E1F9268E4539.jpeg

This is a take or leave it animal on the list. I’ve seen many requests and some not even mention them. To me their a nice North American species or European to include. Enormous and somewhat aquatic these guys would make a great addition imo.
6) Capybara
809F7EAD-D5EA-4717-B471-0895D26BD285.jpeg

Another very popular zoo animal and a disappointing non inclusion to the SA pack for many. I believe these large rodents should definitely be included in PZ some day even if it’s just added in sake of being a fan favorite.
7) Leopard (any subspecies)
F6A9FDBD-6D88-49AD-B362-187B03ECD0AC.jpeg

Any one of these nine subspecies would make a welcome addition. Amur seems to be very popular in US zoos but I’d gladly take any. Highly arboreal and stunning in appearance definitely needed in PZ.
8) Black rhino
65AAFA41-029E-4853-8592-BC2AEFC9C432.jpeg

Goes without saying. A icon in Africa and a much needed African subspecies. Very nervous and shy this would make a great addition in PZ.
9) American Alligator
07961A0E-A920-4B28-AF05-F2ACEFA33853.jpeg

Highly requested and a icon in the southern US. A lot of people were disappointed it wasn’t included in the aquatic pack but I believe this was done on purpose and do believe we will get one someday. Still had to include it on this list tho due to popularity and requests.
10) White rhino
76BF1553-8FDA-469D-BFBA-923B25A8A2DD.jpeg

I know another African rhino but to me this is the rhino that should have been the base game choice for sure. Highly social and mild tempered these rhinos would make great additions to people’s zoos. Simply to iconic to leave out so frontier if you see this you simply MUST include these guys.

I know there’s many other animals that would make great additions to this game. Sloths, foxes, beavers, monkeys, and many more to much to list but I felt the ten above animals really captured ten of the best animals to include in this great game whether based on popularity or requests. I will welcome all animals that end up making the final roster and definitely hope we get way more then the ten animals on this list when all said and done.

The cougar isn't really a "must-have". Probably pretty common in American zoos but not so much everywhere else. I definitely want them but I don't think they deserve a spot on a Top 10 list.

You've hit the nail on the head with most of the others, however. I don't think a leopard is extremely important either, but it's at least highly-requested.

For me, a Top 10 list would look like so;
- Southern white rhinoceros.
- Meerkat.
- Siamang (or at least a gibbon of some descript).*
- American alligator.
- Emu.
- Small cat of some kind (serval, caracal, ocelot, or lynx, or, you know, all four).
- Alpine ibex (the iconic mountain goat).
- Capybara.
- Humboldt/African/Magellanic penguin.
- California/Steller's sea lion.

*They figured out climbing, they figured out colour variation, they figured out diving, do you think they can figure out brachiation?

I like your list as well. I definitely like the idea of the alpine ibex btw. Like I said some choices might not be agreeable to everyone. I do like a possible North America pack including a Cougar tho of course they range in Mexico and South America as well. The leopard wouldn’t necessarily break my heart if not included but based on request popularity I had to include it. You seen many requests for the big five which I unfortunately is directly connected to trophy hunting as you mentioned in the past. Although to soon to be talking the next dlc it will be interesting to see what frontier does and where they go from the aquatic pack. Continental dlc, aviary, or specific type like the aquatic pack animals it will be interesting. As for brachiation I definitely think frontier has the talent to pull it off if they put the time and resources into it but I guess will see. One animal you could substitute the moose or leopard with in my list is the gibbon I forgot all about these guys and they are highly requested as well.

I'm hoping they go with biomes for the next set of DLC (never too soon to talk about what's next!) - Desert, Woodland, Alpine, and finish the year off with Birds or something dramatic.

So difficult to choose 10, but here I go:
  1. White rhinoceros
  2. Meerkat
  3. Moose
  4. Lynx (Eurasian or Iberian)
  5. Alpine ibex
  6. California sea lion
  7. Leopard (African or Amur)
  8. Lar gibbon
  9. Desert fox
  10. Penguin (African or Humboldt)
I left the American alligator out because we already have a gharial, a caiman and a crocodile which are somehow similar in terms of look, animation and kind of habitat where they live.

Thinking of what the game lacks and needs to be representative for as many styles of zoos as possible rather than what I would specifically like I would pick these ten:

Capybara
Elk (moose)
Lynx
White rhino
Meerkat
Asian small-clawed otter
Gibbon
Emu
California sea lion
Alpine ibex

Honourable mentions: Tasmanian devil, black rhino, spider monkey, Humboldt penguin, American alligator , leopard, fennec fox, pelican, crane and stork species.

1. White rhino
2. Meerkat
3. Gibbon (any)
4. Iberian lynx
5. Alpine ibex
6. Moose
7. Fennec fox
8. California sea lion
9. Capybara
10. African penguin.

With just 10 animals I'm sure most of us will choose roughly the same ones.

I'm probably gonna sound mean here (sorry in advance) but as I've said several times, this kind of threads will probably mean nothing unless something is done to gather all the lists. Sadly, it is bound to get buried (like many others) in a matter of days or afew weeks.

As much as I do not like mods, if the number of animals we are going to have is limited, I hope the official roster will have the most unique (eg. animals with unique rigs) covered, so modders can take care of the rest when the time is right.

For that reason, I hope we will see following:

  • sea lion
  • a fox species
  • a badger species
  • gibbon
  • capybara
  • meerkat
  • tasmanian devil
  • sloth
  • platypus
  • beaver

There are many others, but choosing just 10 is hard. I feel many other animals like leopards or rhinos could be made from current animals, even though it would not be perfect. But if we for example dont get a sea lion, I do not think modders could make a convincing one without an official rig. A fox could be made from a wolf in theory, but I think it need to behave very differently from a wolf, fox movement is so different, like a wolf that had too much coffee, lol.

I commented on a list like this the other day but I think that included exhibit animals (of which I only had one)

1-2. I think at this point now there's only two "absolute must have" animals left out- the meerkat and an african rhino (either black or white species). Not only are they extremely popular and iconic zoo animals, the support here for these is greater than any of the others left

3-7 - Moose, Cougar (Puma/Mountain Lion, however you want to say it), Sea Lion (probably California but Stellar would be fine), African or Amur Leopard and the lone exhibit species: An Indian or King Cobra. while not "absolute must haves" they really should be given some priority and are needed.

8-10 - Alpine Ibex, Capybara, second otter species (Asian Small Clawed, Eurasian or North American River species most likely). I don't know if the right term is "needed" exactly but they are high profile animals that should be given some priority, but not as much as the first seven. While they selected the perfect penguin species, there was some disappointment at the otter species

If we're talking habitat animals I would replace the King Cobra with the American Alligator. Not one I'm personally pulling for, but I see the support for it.

Bonus for my own wish list: I know it doesn't have a lot of support but I would love to get a wombat in the game. But overall for all players, it's definitely not top 10.

At the risk of sounding redundant, here's my list:

1. Capybara
2. Ocelot
3. Red fox
4. Canada lynx
5. Fallow deer
6. Sloth
7. Rockhopper penguin

8. Fish aquariums
9. More lizard exhibits
10. More snake and turtle exhibits

I will honestly be disappointed if we get two African rhinos, and/or the alligator, instead of the more unique and important species who could have taken those slots.

My ten most wanted at the moment are probably

Meerkat
Sloth
White or Black Rhino
Platypus
Sea lion
Walrus or Elephant Seal
Binturong
Fennec Fox
Moose
Axis or Sika Deer

All those I agreed.

For me it would be

  • Meerkat --> A staple of zoos and highly popular and entertaining to see.
  • Siamang --> we desperatly need a gibbon and this one has a striking appearance and is endangered. (but only if they have specialised animations for brachiation and their weird walking locomotion)
  • Any Deer, hopefully the Moose or the Red, Fallow, or Sika Deer. --> For better representation of ungulates and European fauna.
  • Hamadryas Baboon / Colobus --> More variety in Old World Monkeys other than the mandrill and macaque.
  • Capybara / Cape Porcupine --> We need at least one rodent.
  • Emu or a wading bird (Stork/crane) --> They are very common in zoos, besides emus can share an exhibit with kangaroos and waders are very often housed with ungulates IRL, thus making for more interesting, lively enclosures.
  • Sea Lion --> Absolutely possible after the aquatic pack, plus a very popular and dynamic species.
  • Humboldt's / African Penguin --> they are one of the best-known species and well represented in RL zoos, besides they're both threatened and help bust the myth that penguins are only found in cold habitats.
  • Cougar --> Very iconic plus more representation for the lesser cats from temperate regions (though I wouldn't mind to see a Lynx filling this slot)
  • Binturong --> a weird, niche animal that is still fairly widespread across zoos, and a more dynamic, interesting to see choice rather than a sloth or other arboreal species.
