Tormentor Best Mods: Stability, Hip Accuracy, Faster Handling?

I've seen contradictory views posted that Stability has little to no effect and that Faster Handling is best only for the quickdraw-during-a-scan trick. Are these an accurate representation of the efficacy of the mods in question for the Tormentor? Does Improved Hip Fire Accuracy help the gun in a meaningful way?

I currently have the pistol to G4 and intend to install the Suppressor and perhaps Audio Masking to ensure it's an all-in-one stealth weapon. Still, I'm uncertain which other mods would make it most efficient for settlement missions. Before I start dumping my hard-earned mats, has there been a consensus building on which mods the best work with the Tormentor?

All the pistols are already very quick for handling. Remember all the mods improve stuff by 1.5x. Do you think you will benefit from that .5?

Accuracy only works when you're not ADS. I use a controller so pointing the gun quickly or accurately matters so I tend to shoot from the hip a lot, so accuracy is an absolute must for me but if you never did that then it's not good for you at all.

Stability imo is a must for all the weapons, it reduces the time it takes for the second shot, which again for a controller matters. Maybe MKB users may prefer something else.

I use mouse and keyboard, and habitually aim down sight with every shot. I do have the stability mod, but the others are magazine size, noise suppressor and audio masking. Reload speed and handling are already fast enough with the Tormentor. With this, you can one-shot anyone with shields down, although it does take headshots at a military settlement.

Presumably it depends on what you're going to use it for? For instance, you might consider range and scope if your primary weapon isn't a sniper rifle, but probably not otherwise.

It seems quick enough to not need handling mods, and as my primary weapon is an Executioner, I tend to use the Tormentor at short range if I get swarmed. In addition to Noise Suppression for indoor assassinations, I've also gone for Stowed Reloading so I always start each battle with a full clip (it will top up a half-empty clip). I'm hoping to increase the clip size, as apparently that will go from 6 to 9, which should be enough to take down multiple opponents without a reload.

Keyboard and mouse here.
Audio masking and noise suppressor are really meant for this weapon.
As a 3rd mod, stability*. I played around a lot firing at rocks to get the feel of the lift of the barrel. Stability reduces the lift enabling a better subsequent shot.
The 4th mod is I believe trickier and more depends on an individual.
Magazine size gives 9 shots instead of 6, but 6 are enough in many situations. If you need 9 then you are in a stand-up fight and might need to rethink your CMDRs life options.
Scope gives you a pair of binoculars and is actually very useful, making ADS more accurate.
Greater range is worth considering, as apart from increasing the range of the weapon, increases damage (reduced fall off).

My CMDR can let the NPC start to scan and I have more than enough time to stick the barrel of the Tormentor in his/her face and pull the trigger.

* When aiming I tend to aim first at the groin and then the next shot hits a bit further up the chest.

It's about the tormentor's comedic lack of accuracy.
Hip fire isn't that brilliant unless you habitually fire from the hip.
The tormentor is really all about hitting with the second shot (the first drops shield, the second drops them) that is stability keeping the deviation from the centre aim point constrained.
The same principle applies to faster handling as the sway after drawing and aiming centres faster and more accurately with FH than without and so two shots drop a target reliably rather than turning into some cowboy shootout unloading and reloading pistols at either end of a salloon.

Here's my Maverick combo build for covert heist/theft missions. On foot controllers are joystick for movement, firing weapons and mouse for look around, aiming, selecting objects. In a fire fight with good cover fire the Executioner indoors and take out the guards as they enter my trap!

Great replies, thanks! It seems the school of thought is that Stability does indeed work for this weapon. I play in VR and use an Xbox gamepad for all on-foot stuff and have noticed the unmodified Tormentor moves around a lot for targeting even enemies at close range. Although I do aim down the barrel sometimes it reduces movement speed greatly and even causes some screen stuttering (which might be an issue for just VR users).

My Tormentor is a great all-purpose secondary. I use:
︎ Stowed reloading
︎ Noise Suppressor
︎ Audio Masking
︎ Faster Handling

Pretty happy with it.
Exactly what I use... on the second Tormentor upgraded. This is the one I use almost all the time.

The first one I used had Stability instead of Stowed Reloading. Stability seems to help when you're firing off multiple shots, so I still use this as a sidearm in Dominator/CZ loadouts. However, for most frequently used builds, what you have listed is what I use. Not saying it is the best ever (I don't have time to run empirical tests, this is a game...), but it works the best for me.

I am astonished with the inaccuracy of the weapon, even at G5... First shot lands half m away of a target at 5-10m, second shot 1m, sometimes, and that is when I make carefully aim for the head, and I space the shots with at least 1-2 sec...
Improved hip fire is a must for the Tormentor, and even so, I only use the weapon at distances under 10m....
I modded with noise suppressor ( both of them, since is very useful ) , Improved hip fire acc, and last, stowed reload - I won't go for scope because I do not trust the weapon at range,
mag size do not need since is hard hitter, and, like Cmd Steve here said, no need for faster handling - I shot the NPCs on back usually, or when they are busy scanning me :p

For me it's audio masking, noise suppressor, stability and extra mag. It's main use is clearing settlements but it also does work in CZs so the extra mag is useful at times. Stability has been really useful as even at G5 you're not 100% guaranteed a one shot kill and this helps a lot when you need to double tap.

A lot does depend on what you want it for and mine is perfect for the job of murdering everyone in a settlement without drawing attention to yourself. Having a bit of extra ammo in reserve if you make a mistake.

I must be doing something wrong by shooting and hitting distant targets. I find the weapon accurate, and only go for body shots.

I have Audio Masking, Noise Suppression, and Stowed Reloading on mine.

I picked those by playing the game and figuring out which mods would actually make a difference, based on how I play (mostly stealth, and with the shotgun as my other weapon). For CZs I don't use the Tormentor much, and I switch to the Dominator suit. But most of my gameplay is in the Maverick.

My 4th mod slot is still open. Even after months of play I just don't see a need for anything else. :)
