Engineers Torpedo Reverberating Cascade Sturdy vs. Lightweight Question?

Hello ,

i got 1 question about the mods for Torpedo if you wanna do a Reverberating Cascade version.

Does the Armor piercing of the strudy mount have any impact on the damage applied to shield Generator ?

i know its better in heat but with engeneering this is almost not a problem, so if it doesnt do any better damage to shield generator, lighweight would be the better choice.

Thank you combat pros. Asking cause i don´t want loose mats for nothing and about that question, nobody asked it or tested it, at least i didn´t find it.

I have just bought and engineered one Size 3 Torpedo to Lightweight + Reverberating Cascade as I thought Sturdy's penetration is not needed for Reverberating effect...

I've run to nearby Haz Res to test it, there was one wanted Anaconda when I arrived...

I've shot all 4 torpedos, they all hit and they stripped WHOLE 1 RING of Anaconda's shield!!!

Is this a joke or something, what happened with Torpedos?
I wanted to do some Assassination cheese build, but this is just... not worth it (to stay polite).

@Gorr: One reverb torp eats only 30 units of integrity. An unengineered 6A shield gen has 136 integrity, so at least 5 torps needed. It's even worse in case you encounter slightly engineered NPCs or failing to land all torpedoes on target. From my own experiences with massacre missions it's safe to say that you should bring at least six torpedoes.

Torpedoes always do full damage regarding armor piercing. There is no differences between sturdy and lightweight regarding damage.

A torp actually does 42 integrity damage to shield.

This is because 35% of the base damage (120) is inflicted to shield gen instead of shield (see 2.2 Beta 5 Change Log for confirmation; I am unaware of a chance since then).

I don't use them much, but sturdy seems to be the popular choice due to heat management. Neither lightweight nor sturdy affects either normal damage or reverb cascade damage.

I do occasionally use reverb mines, which are harder to use but have much more ammo. They do 15.4 damage to shield per strike. I recommend hi cap for this, but rapid fire also common.

Aye, this fer me too. Bettar heat management.

Hi-cap for PvE/C1, rapid-fire for PvP/C2 me do.

Torpedoes have an APV of ten-thousand, which makes any further armor piercing increases moot.

The thermal load advantage of sturdy can be marginally relevant, but the integrity increase of the pylon is usually moot unless you are running a shieldless vessel that will be vulnerable before the torpedoes are launched.

In general, I'd recommend lightweight, unless you are flying completely shieldless, or your ship is so big mass doesn't matter.

Lightweight torpedes are great for trade builds. There must be some magic to get c3 torpedo launchers to be so little mass.

Sturdy get you the heat benefit at the cost of weight.
