Torque coaster - No closed circuit causing triggers not to work?

Hi all. I recently built a shuttle coaster using the Torque coaster type and I am unable to get trigger objects to work. I suspect it may have something to do with the track not being a closed circuit. Any thoughts?

You are probably correct - might need some additional testing to be sure.

You could raise it as a bug, however, as coasters at the moment only really function as a closed circuit - it might not be something that can be corrected

Hmm, I'm able to add triggers to the Torque coaster without being a closed circuit.[uhh]
Do you know, how to add triggers or is maybe this the problem and you just need a short tutorial on how to add them? :)

Not at all. I've added triggers many times to other coasters with no issues what-so-ever. In fact, as a test, I added triggers to another coaster and they were able to trigger the trigger objects I have on this coaster. Not sure what the issue is. ???

And they work? Do you have screenshots or a video on what you did so AMartin can get it working? No, not a tutorial; a step by step process, that you specifically took, to get them working?

I've did it like with any other coaster, too.
1. Build a few track pieces
2. Build a triggered event (in my case I used flamethrowers).
3. Go to the ride setting to triggers.
4. Add triggers somewhere on the track and link them with the flamethrowers I wanted to trigger.
5. Start a test ride

I don't know why a video should help in here - it's the normal procedure.[uhh]

If I understood AMartin7777 right, he's just having this issue with one specific coaster and not with torque coasters in general.
We'll see if I'm right or not. :)

EDIT: I will build a short demo and will upload a picture of it in a few mins.

Martin, do they not work in test mode? Do they work in test mode but not in "open mode"?

You are not able to open it if it's not a closed circuit - or am I wrong, because closed circuit means something else as the closed circuit I'm thinking of?
Please correct me if I'm wrong: A closed circuit is an unfinished coaster for me. [uhh]

I've never tried a shuttle coaster (implies launch, then backwards to station). This is his quote though -->

I have heard of a workaround to get shuttle coasters working --> https://forums.planetcoaster.com/sh...-shuttle-coasters!!?highlight=shuttle+coaster

So maybe? I dunno. I guess we have to wait on AMartin on this one.

Her is a picture of what I think is meant with a closed circuit:

On the picture you can see a few track pieces of a torque coaster and 3 flamethrowers triggered (for one second) by 3 triggers.
The second one got activated at the moment i took the picture.

Oh ok thanks, so I'm wrong, because I thought he wanted to use it like a park shuttle and while he was testing it (and the track wasn't finished) the triggers didn't work. - I'm sorry for my little missunderstanding.[where is it]

No biggie! :) I think what would really help us, help him, is if he posted pics of exactly what is happening (or isn't happening) so we can give him a more informed response.

That's true, this would help me, too, to understand the problem, because I tried it again with a coaster like you've discribed it ("implies launch, then backwards to station") and the triggers do what they should do again. [where is it]
But I think I will leave this like it is for now and wait for a reply with screens.[happy]

I will get you all some screen shots. By "shuttle" I mean, it launches, leaving the station, goes through a couple of looping elements, hits another set of lims then goes in reverse all the way back to the station. By "circuit" I mean a track that leaves the station and connects back with the opposite end of the station, a "closed circuit" (complete track).

Screenshots

Here is a screenshot of the track and assigned trigger object (flame thrower). I originally had some up at track level but deleted them all as a test then added this one seperately on the ground to see if it made a difference. Still not triggering though. ??

Thanks for the screenshots.[up]
I don't see any problem with your coaster/trigger.
Have you tried to test the trigger by pressing the "play-button" (I obviously mean the one next to the name of the trigger)
Does the triggered effect start if you hit this button?
Is maybe you're trigger time 0.00sec?

I know these are some obvious things, I'm asking, but I really don't understand, why it shouldn't work.[wacky]
Another thing I could try if you want is to test it, too. - You upload the park to the workshop, send the link below and I will try if it works for me. - Or maybe I can find out why not.
And I'm sure this would help the devs to have a look at it, too. :)

yes, the play button causes the trigger to work. Link to park: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=846328687

Thanks for the download.[up] - I'm sure it will help the devs, too.
I've tried it for a while now and you're right. - Not that I didn't trusted you[happy]. - I thought maybe I can find a little mistake in one of the settings. - Happened to me a few times, too.[wacky]

@dev/support, who reads this:
I've tried the following things to help you finding the issue. - So the following things are things which can not fix the bug:
- Adding new triggers.
- Adding new triggered effects (new flamethrowers)
- Adding other type of effects (explosion + water effects)
- Deleting the old ones and replacing them, etc.

I've build a second coaster next to it, a lot smaller, but at least one that launched up a small hill and then comes backwards back to the station. (like the issue-coaster)
I was able to add the triggers to it and everything worked fine.
I was able to trigger the effects of the issue-coaster, too. (with my new coaster)

Something I noticed was, that the triggered effects are part of a building and the lights next to it not.
So I created the same constellation next to my second coaster and everything worked fine.[uhh]

I've tried those things in a lot of different constellations and I was not able to reproduce it or get the issue-coaster-effects to get triggered by it.
I'm a bit out of ideas now, so I guess just the devs will be able to find the issue.
I hope my efforts help a little bit.[happy]
