TPCAST Wireless for Rift and Vive - anyone?

Is anyone considering getting the TPCAST wireless box add-on for the Rift, or the Vive?

Its about $300 USD I think and should be on the market at/by Christmas.

Is the wireless freedom going to help that much in ED? I'm not sure, but my cable does get snagged on the back of my chair from time to time. Sometimes I get it hooked under my chair castor, which prevents me from looking left until I un-snag it. Probably isn't good for the cable either. :p

Lone Echo, especially Echo Arena games might be a good testing ground - you have to look all around and turn every which way as the ball zings around. Sometimes I see other players obviously "unwinding" as you see them whirl about after they've had the ball! Gives me a laugh.

For ED you are sat in your chair so as long as the cable is out of the way (usually from behind your head) no worries.
If space legs ever becomes a thing that might change, but I play lone echo and you use the controller to turn your body around, so even though you are standing in RL and floating weightless in the game the cable does not really interfere.
Some of the more active games where you are playing virtual tennis etc it might be different, but I have not tried them.
As it is at the moment I would think a butt kicker on your chair might be a better way to enhance VR ED.

Id be interested in wireless as i have been getting tangled, the most in holopoint i think.

My intention was to not upgrade HMD before wireless became the thing but i jumped on the pimax train because i came to terms with wanting more resolution even with a cable, wireless is on the way and ive got a discount for it.

Ill see if i pick up a wireless module when they come out, till then its back to doing the cable-untangly-dance every once in a while.

Current wireless tech is struggling to reach the bandwidth needed for cv1/vive. And those are running on just about hmd 1.4 spec bandwidth of 10.2 Gbps.

Pimax is struggling to get past 82hz on their DP 1.4, granted not necessarily bandwidth related, but the cable with bandwidth almost comparable to HDMI 2.1 at 48.6Gbps.

Pimax might want it but I wouldn't hold my breath for this actually be working this decade.

Yeah, thats what i came to terms with.

Dont really mind if the pimax is stuck at 80hz, played 100s of hours on the 75hz dk2 and had no problems with that.

sweviver is using tpcast in this video:

In that game, wireless has to help right!

Yeah, just read in that review that it requires an ethernet port. So that's that out as I only have one on board and I'm sure as hell not buying a card for it. Sounds like a pain in the to get working, which is about what I expected for something like this. And at £318, no thanks, I'll deal with the wires.

I can confirm that there's an issue with the vive regarding gray lines popping up in local space horizontally on the HMD. It seems to be specific to this game. Hopefully they can work out the kinks, but wait for a fix first.
