Ya... I don't know what I'm missing , but updating station info has been working for me the last two nights... Used it plenty of times last night -hitting the connect button -getting the green "Success" thingy... Not complaining, must be [alien]'s

I can confirm that this is the case in systems that have a NAV Beacon, jump in and scan it and then all the systems details are recorded in TCE automatically.
Why did I wait until the release of 2.4 to try this? I'm guessing the focus issue is still, officially, an issue. I'm getting a bit eager.
Update [1.6.2.2] released:
- Added a complete redesign of the Waypoint/Bookmark panel.
- Added some category icons for rare commodities to the Cargo panel.
- Fixed an EDMC version check after an EDMC update, while the launcher is running.
- Fixed an issue with the focus control when adding data at the Cartography panel.
- Fixed an error with the "CollectMaterials" event.
- Fixed an issue when jumping into a star system, the approach star system message was only shown once at the Position display.
Note:
Copy all files and folders from the update into your TCE installation folder (see version requirements) to update your version.
I like to remind any user, who wants to use TCE in french, spanish and russian to help in translating the
latest interface phrases and commodities at OneSky. Thanks in advance.

Okay, everything seems to work. 1.6.2.2 installed. I updated my GeForce drivers just now. Rebooted. Loaded the game, and started TCE. Well, right now, in Firefox, I am looking at TCE. But it has only been visible in the game once. It was last night. I selected 'Launch', I left the starport and TCE was visible until I hit supercruise. From what I see when I start the game, it is updating when I scan nav beacons. And under 'Control', 'System', I have the correct monitor selected. I have a key set to toggle focus, and it does. I get the game with no TCE showing, or I get my desktop with TCE.

Answer: Please select the "Borderless Windows Mode" at the display options of Elite Dangerous.

When a destination is auto selected the correct commodity information is shown. However when I manually select a Destination no commodities IMPORT/EXPORT are shown. However this doesn't happen 100% of the time, not sure (yet) how to recreate the issue.

Both issues nailed. The second one could sometimes happen, if you have selected an unregistered market or a star system as your destination before.
I get an "Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow" error when mousing over certain waypoints in my flight plan:
