Trade data acquired but unavailable

Hello,

Maybe some of you Elite traders out there can explain this to me:
- I am in an Extraction system and I went to the galmap and bought trade data for e Refinery system (100 Cr) hoping to see what prices they have
- However on the galmap, it says "Data for this system is unavailable" and at the same time, "Trending trade data aquired (23h 59min remaining)

I find the statements contradictory, why is the data unavailable if it has been acquired? Are they not the same thing? If not, what trade data did I actually acquire? How can I use that?

Ah yes, it's not made clear. The trade data you purchase gives the trending trade "routes" i.e. the coloured lines between systems and the price data that is reported unavailable is only obtained by either scanning the nav beacon or landing at a port.

I think the Trending Trade Data you buy from the Galaxy Map shows up in the Commodities Market. Select an item and on the right-side panel it will list systems they have traded that commodity from/to. It doesn't show you the specific station or live prices though.

However, if you've visited a station in that system, at some point, then you can use the Trade Tools in the Market screen or the Commodity view in the Galaxy Map to show you live pricing for any station in that system.

I did not notice the the colored lines between systems either, so I was confused. I guess I had my filters wrong.

You can also filter that trending data for NPC's, and players separately.

It's kind of a really bad none real time heat map. Which could potentially (but probably not) be useful for pirates.
