Trade requirements for Elite ranking need to come down

1 billion credits is simply out of touch... even for an anaconda or cutter that's extreme grinding. 500mil is much more reasonable.

Your joking, right? I don't know about bulk trading as I haven't done that in forever but missions rewards are easily 10-50x what they once were and the mark for Elite Trade hasn't changed. But then all the Elite ranks have become rather meaningless in terms of the effort it takes to achieve them. Of all the things in the games that need changing, this is not one of them except maybe to raise the bar.

I have no idea what ya'll are talking about. Mission rewards are jokes. I'm tycoon and if I see a hauling mission for over 1mil, it's extremely rare.

If this is all the thread is about. Become allied with the factions in a system and they will offer you more profitable missions. Anything that earns you a profit (except smuggling as of 2.3) will improve your reputation with the faction that controls a station where you made the profit. 7.5 mil will get you allied, half that if you are allied to the same superpower.

Trade Elite was the first Elite I got. I was a little embarrassed by how easily I got it. But that was back in Sothis days.

Combat Elite was a lot of work.

Explorer Elite would have been the most difficult for me, but I used Sightseeing passenger missions to get me from 25% Pioneer to Elite.

Trade certainly doesn't need to be any easier. Dave, you understand that Elite is supposed to be an extreme challenge right? And once you get there, it gets a little harder to find motivation to do things in the game. It's really not a race.

I am allied with the local factions. Though I have heard they were nerfed in 2.3.

So two of your elites were gained by using exploits/things that were later patched.

If anything, the requirement for Trade Elite needs to be increased.

A billion credits is easy enough to make. Trade Elite is the easiest of the ranks to get.

OR are you wanting it to just take a weekend?

You're saying it can be done in two weekends, prove it. Wipe your save, and stream you going from 200cr to 1 billion cr in two weekends.

I'm allied with all the factions in Sol. The mission payouts for hauling have been cut down dramatically since this most recent patch. The payouts are rubbish now, and at best I'd expect ~2 or so mil an hour. My Commander is 20% Tycoon, so to reach a billion I have about 600mil to go...that's ~300 hours of gameplay just for grinding to Elite. If I make it, I'll have earned it.

A guy would really need to grind the trading if he didn't do hauling missions...straight trading...oh my!

Yeah I know, that totally invalidated my 1400hrs in the game.

It's not a race. Don't get sucked in the way I did. There's no party for you at the end. No one treats you any different, there's no red carpet at the station.

1400hours for triple elite with two of them being fast tracked. Does that not sound absolutely insane to you? Considering payouts are BASED off rank now, it does matter. That red carpet is more credits. More credits means more ships. It absolutely matters.

I completed triple Elite a while ago. 1400hrs is my current spot.

I thought once you got to about Broker or Entrepreneur you got access to Elite missions? I don't remember.

As a Trade ranked Elite with 6 Billion (2 Billion is Trade) in the bank I say no way. You can do it if you keep at it. Find a trade route near a Haz Rez to break up the monotony and Wars will break out near you so you can skim some combat credits. Just stop thinking about it, it will come.

As an Entrepreneur ranked pilot, no. Just no.

If anything, it should be massively increased. Given how little I've focused on trade, I don't feel like my rank is really earned.

I don't care. Just hit Elite explorer. Got my founders world permit. Don't really care at this point.

Everybody has access to elite missions, the lock that prevented you accepting missions above your rank was removed two updates ago.

Payouts scale with rank though. Elite explorer will get paid more for the same sightseeing missions compared to a surveyor.

No, the payouts scale with the rank of the mission, and to an extent you will be offered better paying missions due to your standing (reputation) with the faction giving the mission. Your rank has no impact on that, and you can take any ranked mission you wish, they are not gated, as Red Anders pointed out.
