In-Development TradeDangerous: power-user trade optimizer

I don't seem able to update anything after the buy and sell prices i.e. demand and supply

Not sure I have the patience to play this game without the trade data.

Possibly you are not putting the level of the demand/supply in addition to the quantity? The data in those fields require a number and a letter eg: 467L (L means LOW). M = MED and H = HIGH. Otherwise you can just put a "?" if it is some amount but you don't bother with the exact number. The demand field can all be "?" - it doesn't really matter. The supply field I only update the exact quantity if it is below 1000, otherwise I just put a "?" there too when the commodity is buyable.

Yep sorry, syntax error on my part. Using the experimental GUI has helped. Do you mean you update if it is ABOVE 1000? I have some large numbers for some systems I am mapping. In the example below, the supply data is complete, the demand incomplete. Am I wasting my time? Do you keep the demand data accurate?

Supply BELOW 1000 I am interested in. Particularly supply below 100. This is because if the supply is cleaned out then we can't buy it anymore. Also, TD can take that into account - eg: if the supply is 16L then TD will only buy 16 of that item. If you leave the supply as ? then TD might try to buy more than what's in stock. Any stock level above 1000 then that is a ? for me.

I do not enter any demand data - I leave it all as ? . It doesn't seem to make any difference at all.

Like in the past Michael Brookes could provide us (crowd source project) with a partial list of system names with 3D coordinates. This time in 5dp goodness (1/32 LY grid). It are a WHOPPING 19842 systems!! You can find his excel sheet here.

I just finished converting, merging, and removing duplicates to make a new System.csv with 20179 systems. That should keep us going for a while!

Having problems reading your .csv file, there appears to be some funky character in it somewhere, don't have time to investigate right now...

Great job thank you. It was a real chore getting co-ordinates for the systems the Gamma has dropped me in, over 100ly from Eranin.

There are a few non-utf-8 characters in there... There's a 0xa0 (hard space), 0xa1 (weird 'i'), and a 0xa2 (a funky c). There also appear to be two stars called Mantcac.

I'm wondering, is there anything like this that is a little less linuxy and a little more windowsy? :eek:

All those commandlines and switches make it look like its a bit of cumbersome beast to handle.

Somebody is putting a Windows GUI on it I think. But IMO it's the best tool I've used, and worth the investment learning how to use it.

Part of the reason I have TD lurking here in the user-creations forum is that I recognize it's very much a power-user tool. I've tried to build it in such a way that other developers might be able to build on it and use it for the heavy-lifting for their own tools.

To that end, there are a couple of people building things with TD, one of which is Lars project to use something called "flask" to turn TD into a browser-based app that you run locally (you don't need a web server), and someone else was building a GUI.

thanks for doing it, I did notice a few 'test' systems in the list which required removing.

Of course I benefit from it as well ;-) For me coordinates are just a small but important piece in a larger puzzle (see my Profile to understand what I mean).

That is correct. If you follow the thread from the point on where I dropped you with the 'here' you will notice commanders have created spreadsheets without those test systems in it. All MB's systems are in TGC right now. Maddavo's merged list contains some 346 more systems. I'm confident he and TornSoul can work out which systems needs to be in TGC as well.... I'm confident that in a day or two when the dust has settled a bit and most tools which use the coordinates will be using either Maddavo's list or even better directly get the coordinates from TGC - its just a webapi.

The System.csv in the current git repository is basically Maddavo's with the non-UTF8 characters fixed Mant¢ac => Mantoac, Nant¢ac => Nantoac, Argetl.mh => Argetlamh, L¡fthruti => Lifthruti).

Everything should work but there is a conflict in the data: HIP 24019 and HIP 24020 have the same coordinates.

Thanks - spotted now. I've also removed the test systems. Where is the git repository - is that the bitbucket one? Can you use github for windows with that?

There is indeed something fishy going on with those two. Its been discussed in the crowd source thread. The discussion starts here, and in the next posts they come to the conclusion the coordinates are the same. Not sure what has been decided to do with it. As I'm away in 3 hours for a week perhaps Maddavo can post in the crowd source tread to check what to do with it.

AND ninja-ed by Maddavo himself ;-)

http://kfs.org/td/source -> bitbucket,
http://kfs.org/td/issues -> issue tracker,
http://kfs.org/td/thread -> here,
http://kfs.org/td/group -> facebook group,

I haven't used GH4W in forever, but in theory you should be able to -- ultimately they're just git repos... I personally use Atlassian's SourceTree - I tried the BB and GH GUIs and got very confused and very scared very quickly. SourceTree has been a life saver a number of times.

Just removed the test systems (also SingleLightTest, Dave) from the TD repos.
