Trading in Imperial Slaves now a no no? Polymers? Seriously?

Funny that slaves are down in profit, but as many have stated, it's a cyclical thing. I remember (quite some time back) that Osmium was the hot ticket, then Painite, slaves, now Opals and whatnot.

In RL, the British outlawed slavery in the 1800's (for various reasons), maybe the game is imitating that historical chapter.

Of note (something I just found), the British government saddled its taxpayers with paying off a loan that was taken out to reimburse slave owners for their property loss, their former slaves.

Slave owners and their progeny profited from slavery and its outlawing, until 2015, two centuries later, when the loan was finally retired.

I have about 300milion in assets and have thought about trading in my Clipper, but even with that, I would still be about 200million, short, for the Cutter; with enough re-buys to run it in open. So my choice is simple. Play more and do some grinding. Or just enjoy the game.

The T9 after the latest change can carry almost the same load as the Cutter. Had that change happened in 2017, I wouldn't have bothered with the Cutter.

Other than the large cargo holds, I wanted the Cutter for it's lines. It's a thing of beauty, a massive work of magnificent art. It oozes distinction, opulence and sumptuousness. A Cutter shouts PROSPERITY! ABUNDANCE! LUXURY! and... POWER! COMMAND! DOMINANCE! It's like the Queen Mary of cruise ships, the Rolls Royce of cars. There is no ship in Elite which comes even close.

Just saying.

I got my Elite Trader in a T7 :D

Unlike the T-9, the Cutter is a capable fighting machine, but definitely not the best of the big three (ok, fine, four, Mr. Beluga). I have two Cutters, in fact. Well, ok, I think I have also have two T9s or one T9 and one T10, not sure. I probably have too many ships if I can't remember what I have at this point.

First Cutter is my bulk trader. But as I don't do much bulk trading today, I use my Corvette far more. It does delivery and assassination missions with ease, makes mincemeat of HazRez locations, and it looks sick in Midnight Black with a few "modifications." Other Cutter was meant to be a warboat, but I'll be honest--the Corvette is hands down better at that. So, Cutter #2 is sitting in drydock. If we could sell ships, Arry could get the deal of the century and be in a Cutter tonight. :D

My point was simply that if you don't want to rank grind, the T-9 is now just as capable of a pure hauler that the Cutter is. That is great for the common man who can swing a 57M CR ship but is still a plebeian in the eyes of the Empire.

T7 was and still is my first LARGE ship- I love it.

I had a T7 for about three hours before upgrading to a T9. I traded it in gleefully. There might have been some exploitation of a game mechanic gone awry that night that enabled such a quick upgrade, but it's classified.

Any way you can lend me one of your T9's? I'll look after it I promise.

Keep in mind I'v only been playing for about 2 months now, still don't have the cr's to by big yet.

You kids these days. I think it took me four or five months before I got into a T7 back in 2015, but I think I was distracted by my glorious Clipper (which was my first big ship).

My current fleet:
132519

I may have to do a bit o' research in the ole GalMap tonight, I bet there's one nearby that could be of use.

You can spend an hour on the GalMap or 10 minutes at EDDB.io and get the same or better information.

And FWIW Military Fabrics seem to be in great demand lately. The other day I made Cr6990 per ton profit on a trip to a planetary base. Don't overlook planetary bases - there's money to be made deliverin' to the groundhogs.

Well, look at that. One T9 and one T10. And a bunch of sidewinders that predate ship transport.

Mystery--two Cobra IIIs. I'm sure I had a reason, but have no idea why now.

I seen in a thread that damaged stations are paying a premium for ships?
I see no further use for my sidewinder so when I get back- sold.
