trading, takes forever what am i doing wrong?

Woah that's awesome! I also would like millions so i could have the Type-9 :p

Whats the Viper like then? does it have a good amount of cargo space?

Be warned, once you have flown the Viper in combat you will not want to fly anything else ;)

It has poor range and cargo space but its pure awesome in a dogfight.

Use the Space Cow to make tons of money and then spend it on kitting out a Viper and going on anarchy extraction zone rampages. I just got back from a particularly lively session at Anahit which bagged me at least 20 kills and more gold than i could carry :D

The game is deliberately cruel, no one is getting anywhere, and those that say they make millions in a hour are lying because the absolute most amount of profit in the game is 750 for a 3000 purchase, do the maths it takes forever.

Just don't do trading in a sidewinder. Better watch for light cargo missions and combine it with a little bit of trading. There are light cargo missions that give about 5k credits. And if you find none, just use the ingame trade map to get a little bit of money while searching for the next mission. If your lucky you can get enough money for a hauler with about 10-15 Jumps.

I was getting 1,016 Cr. profit from 4t of Fish last night at Aulin Enterprise - cost price was 1,556 Cr.

Ok, let's do the math.

A Lakon Type 9 has 440 cargo units capacity.

It's perfectly possible to make 500 cr profit per ton.

500x440=220000 credits in one trip.

Doing 4 trips in an hour is no problem at all and you could probably make several more than that which means that the profit per ton could be much lower.

So yes...if you have a Lakon Type 9 then it is perfectly possible to earn more than a million per hour.

duh

so in 1 night I made it to hauler en 70 k. almost viper level. I think I dock easily that last run, before purchasing my viper; then I blow up. out of nothing.

all trade gone. trading is bad. since you put all your money in goods with no insurance policy for that. Happened for the second time.

back at 11K again. another evening of pointless trades towards my viper... I should hate this game.

But I still have my hauler unlike last time where my money was dried up and I couldn't even pay the insurance...

11K -> 15K -> 20K -> 26K -> 31K -> 39K -> .... every trade 20 minutes...

means another night without fights and only trade.

But it will go down to 750 ish soon, the 4 tonne limit of the sidewinder don't help either, its not that much smaller than a cobra and that has 36 tonne.

If you see the two right next to each other you realise that the Cobra is actually far far bigger than a Sidewinder. While I've made one or two decent trade runs in a Sidewinder, I've made much more from the delivery missions and will swap for a Hauler next to see if some decent money can be made trading in one of those.

From scratch you wont.

Will it?

The 4t limit is fine for a starter ship - once a player can afford a hauler then there is scope to make 4x the profit per run (gross). The Cobra allows 9x; the Type 6 allows 25x; the Type 9 allows 110x....

The grind does not last forever....

I restarted my game completely on Friday, took a delivery mission first and netted about 5k from that, then went on to trade up slowly Friday and Saturday evening.

Sunday i played from about 10am, got the Hauler about midday, dumped the gun to increase jump range a bit and had about 10k to buy my first cargo, it took me about two hours to get back up to 30k.

By Sunday late evening i had enough to buy the Cobra and about 40k to buy cargo, played Monday evening after work and now have the Cobra, with two class three Gimballed pulse lasers and about 150k credits.

maximum profit I saw on one run was 21k but i am averaging about 10k per run as i mess about exploring the systems and cargo hauling at the same time.

I'm not particularly hurrying so i think a weekend to get up to the Cobra should be possible for anyone even a noob if they settled right down to it.

I think it would be better if sidewinders could easily get to the outlying systems where profit margins are higher (I was making 1K per unit clear profit this morning in my Cobra)

Then there's always this slightly risky profit opportunity:
Scooping gold at LP 98-132 unidentified signals, sell on black market

Ignore all the "its too easy" nonsense.

It just takes time.

To get going i would suggest trading an easy route such as Aulin to Chango or Assellus to Dahan.

Use Slopeys BPC tool to determine the best commodity to trade.

Once you have ground out about 28,000 you can go to Aulin and buy a hauler.

The Hauler will cost you about 23000 and you need 5000 to stick some cargo in and get grinding again.

The money starts to roll in a bit with 16 tons and some capital to play with.

The initial grind from sidey to hauler is the most painful, after that its a case of "the more money you have the more money you make".

Before you know it you will cruising around in a Space Cow making 250,000+ ON A SINGLE RUN :D

Enjoy the view while you are grinding ;)

It takes 30 min to get to hauler or less, and than from there an hour or 2 to get to the cobra or u just tough it out for another 1 hour and get the lakon tpe 6. now you are making 70k a run easy in 1 jump and can get the lakon type 9 in the rest of the day.

I dunno man in 1 day....yes the values are off in beta i suppose but it's still very low, scarely low.
