Transition times between Supercruise and normal

Hi!

So, I have a 2.5y old PC that can easily run Elite Dangerous with everything on high, yet when I transition from Supercruise to Normal, the ship 'hangs' from between 5 seconds to 30 seconds before I get to fly again and see the trade-station for example.

My question: Is this normal? Or is it just my pc? If it is my PC, would a Solid State Drive help with this? Been thinking about buying one of those for a while, and if it helps I might finally do that, as it somehow is quite an 'immersion-breaker' for me.

Thanks! Wasn't sure if I should put this in this particular forum or not, hope it's ok!

It's "normal".

It's a networking issue.

If you press ctrl+b you'll get a network display.

As you drop out you should see a spike in the data.

Sometimes this data takes longer to arrive so you 'hang'

It used to be really bad, as on make a cup of tea bad.

It was much better in PB2 and seems to have got a bit flaky again. I guess it's because of the changes and the increased number and spread of players.

It should get better as FD patch and tweak.

Ps ctrl+f gives you frame rate

It's perfectly normal, I see everything from 10 seconds to several minutes whenever I exit frameshift drive. The loading time is probably the same, but your client also has to synch with the local instance, which can take a long time at the moment, since the servers can't really handle the influx of new players. It'll get better as some of the new players lose interest.

Much better than it used to be (thankfully!) and hopefully it'll continue to improve as they optimise servers etc.

What you will find is generally when it's quieter (early morning or late night) the delays are shorter, when it's busy (early evening) the delays are often worse. At least that's what I find.

I'm surprised to see the same kind of delays in solo play though... Was expecting it to be much better without needing all that instancing being required.

i watched several video showing that problem.

i really hope they will find a better way to do it, expecially when you enter the range of a space station and your ship appears in a random distance.
Often it's a real disaster because you come out of the supercruise directly inside the structure of the station, with ofc collisions and damages.

i wonder :

1 - why the coming out (from supercruise state) position of the ship within the station zone must be random ? o_O

2 - why is it necessary an istance between supercruise and a point of arrival ?

3 - why they don't make it automatic once arrived and not before..?

ignorant example: a ship is travelling from a to b in supercruise, in B there are 'x' ships awaiting, the ship comes out of supercruise in the B zone, there are now x+1 ships ... IF the number is > than y then another istance is created for that ship.

Fast question: where are they configurable?! Cause those 2 mappings are already setup here, with other functions... and I don't want to change 'em...
