Newcomer / Intro Traveling around .Made it to California Nebula. What to do around ?

I have the game since 2014 but didn’t play it much . in 2016 I bought OCOLUS RIFT and gave another shot with Thrustmaster Warthog equipment. And played like months. Afterwards I stopped again.

The reason I keep stopping is I feel like “ what to do next”. I never made millions of credit. but since 1 months time , when I have time . I try to play. but , was only flying around SOLAR system. MONOMAN or what ever the POWER (red color)guy controlled faction system. see I can’t even focus on names etc. working, family etc keeps my mind stressful already.

Anyway, last week that community mission which was rescue mission on California. I started to fly there with my ASP explorer with fuel scoop. then I stopped playing. had to travel out of city for business. When I start to play the community goal was over lol. but I kept flying. it was even pain to find that specific system with that research base anyway. why in game search function is useless? DARWIN RESEARCH asteroid it was but when I made to California nebula I had to find it manually . I think I am making mistake somewhere. anyway that another story.

I made a few missions there and now I feel like “WHAT TO DO NEXT? “. Yeah what to do please? I am FEDERAL ranked . can access FEDERAL SHIPS if I have money. I was thinking to achieve a SOL access permission to see SOL system for an achievement for myself. But traveling back to there? yeah sure why not but then what? I need friends? my times are random. probably won’t able to fit people good.

Wish there are more missions like Escort convoy etc. or shall I get a Vulture and pirate around ?

I have PS4 veresin with Thrustmaster HOTAS plugged to it. I am in same situation there too.. WHAT TO DO ?

Even sometimes when wife enter my hobby room and saying: Dear u flying again?….. - yes I fly again. the only and lovely thing I do in this game anyway [haha][haha]

I love flying in a nice space craft. just need a bit more focus on what to do please.

Use the galaxy map filters to find populated systems. In your example if you had filtered to show only systems with an economy, you'll easily see all populated systems in California

Not much to do out there except mining and sight seeing. You can also find a few capital class freighters out in California. California is primarily an Alliance research hub due to those organic structures that had been discovered, not much a player can do to contribute.

I spent a week out there a few months back on a mining a trip, some of those stations offer a few million credits per mining mission, all rings are pristine out there. Apart from mining I took a look at some of those weird Alien growths planet side, headed back to Pleiades afterwards to help out with the rescue and repairs.

As far as things to do in general. Closest place to you for Fed rank ups is the Sothis system (doing data runs between Sothis/Ceos) you could also head to the Pleiades to help out with all the chaos (rescue passengers or haul goods to the damaged stations) At the moment I am back near the bubble hauling Indium to the Ngalia system for the Mega ship CG.

Btw, if you have VR and do get the SOl permit, head straight to the moon Arial, one of the most amazing sights in the game. In fact most of the moons in Sol look amazing in VR

There is no rush in this game, like you I spend a lot of time away due to work, just dive in when you can and enjoy the journey.

Also there is no way to see on Galaxy map if a near system is populated or not . Or I really don’t know how to properly use of the galaxy map with filters . while retuning back to my previous home system, I would love to visit other POPULATED systems but don’t know how to do. shame.

The galaxy map is a very powerful tool, you can filter most things - System Population, Economy type, Government type, security level etc. Switch to MAP view and filter according your requirements. Good luck!

Yeah man, how odd I couldn’t figure it out while returning back to my start point from California Nebula that filter worked well. I visited some damaged stations around MAIA. no way to enter them because of heat. But the visuals were impressive and the atmosphere, music. tried to save a escape pod in he station with cargo scoop but ended destroying it because of speed. it was spinning around anyway.
