Trees should contribute to climbing need

I love a natural looking enclosure and I am ecstatic that trees are climbable in Planet Zoo!

However, I have heard that trees don’t contribute to the climbing need of our animals. Is there a mechanical reason for this (difficult to implement in square metre format?) or was it an elective decision? If it is at all possible, I’d love for it to be patched in that trees do count as an enrichment item and count for climbing need fulfilment.

Good comment!

Animals can climb trees, so obviously they should fill in that enrichment need.
Does it though?

A great question is, can I glitch an actual climbing piece (part of the standard wooden jungle gym set) into a tree, and would it treat it as a climbable surface? Some streamers have done similar actions by covering benches with rocks to make it look like the guests are sitting on the rocks themselves, so could we do something similar with trees to make them at least "appear" climbable.

I believe trees do count to climbing need (hell, the climbable area icon is a tree). What doesn't seem to count is building pieces that are not considered climbing enrichment, even if they are climbable (like the temple in the mandrill exhibit we've seen).

They should most logically add to the climbing need but I get also wanting to encourage players to build additional structures or even just sort of warning players that the animals climb (so to not put climbable too close to the fence) so maybe have them full fill the need less them the other climbable objects.

Dakhar, I don’t think the ability to climb trees (and other scenery items) was questioned.

Climbing animals do have a “climbing need” they have to be able to satisfy in order to be happy.
Only certain game items have this as ability, for example those wooden structures that can be built in the habitats.
Apparently, trees do currently not have this property. I am not sure about this, but that’s what this thread is about.
