Horizons Triggering Pirate Spawn

For the last few days I've been running Kill Pirates Missions- I was interdicting them one by one, until yesterday when I interdicted one and it led to a chain of mission targets jumping into my instance. Each time I killed one, a new one appeared, and I completed the mission much faster than usual.

I've been trying to make it happen again but I've had no luck. Does anyone know how this works? The whole "pirates come to me" situation is pretty clutch.

And yes, I know I could go to a HazRez/compromized nav becon, but some systems don't have them or the spawns for particular factions i'm hunting are too low.

God, I'm old. I just had to look "clutch" up on Urban Dictionary. :)

Not sure about regular interdictions, but I've had a number of Distress Call USS that have turned into chains of ever-spawning pirate wings. It was never clear whether this was by design or a bug, but it might be worth checking out any Distress Calls you come across. At the very least you'll get the first wing of pirates, which is normally three ships, so more time-efficient than interdicting a single guy. Sometimes the local authority ships can arrive and pick one of them off before you have time, though, so you have to be quick.
