Trinkets of Hidden Fortune - do they actually work?

I've been fooling around with these trinkets in my hold for a while, and it seems that I find more "stuff" in weak signal sources when I have some onboard.

Stuff being Ancient Artifacts and Experimental Chemicals, Rebel Transmissions or Military Plans - doesn't seem to "work" with black boxes.

When I say I find more, I mean about 6-7 on average - as opposed to 1-4 with empty cargo.

Anyone has similar experience?

Well, for 600 cr, I'm keeping them and busy experimenting. Would not make any difference to be honest. (flying Python)

Usually missions at the bulletin boards ask you to go find that kind of stuff and pay you more than they are worth for them. Good luck.
