I used to use a triple screen setup and found that this:
Let's also be clear about "what" we're playing on a triple setup as all games don't lend themselves well to it
Is a really important thing to consider before diving in on a triple monitor setup.
In my case I found it to be a mostly aggravating experience technically since I play a wide variety of newer and older titles and would regularly find bizarre happening when I'd hit a game that reacted badly to my setup. I'd have to shut my side monitors off just to get things to behave and over time that got grating. But, if you're primarily a sim gamer then triple screens can be a fantastic (if system taxing) experience.
I experimented with using a Visio D-40U D1 for my computer screen with my Track IR perched on top and a portrait mode 24" side monitor and love it a lot more than my old triple screen setup. Huge real estate, great picture quality, and since it's sitting just a couple feet in front of me it fills my field of vision incredibly well. I do lose the peripherals but like GhostBuster noted, Elite doesn't really have proper triple monitor support so it kinda looked like anyway.
I think if you're primarily an Elite player you're better off with going with a single large main gaming screen since we do have some really fantastic, large, high resolution options available these days or just saying screw it and buying a VR headset.
